Disadvantages: Your phone bills from ringing them

The service provided to me as a tennant with Reeds Rains (by Reeds Rains Management Team) was completely unsatisfactory. Fortunately we had few problems, however the problems we did have were dealt with anything but promptly and politely. When our Television broke it took over 6 weeks and as many phone calls for them to send somebody round to fix it. Each time we spoke to the management team or left a message for them, they never did.

One month our branch sent a letter to me threatening legal action because I hadn't paid my rent. I had of course paid my rent by the standing order that THEY had set up, but because they had spelt my name wrong on their own records I had to ring them to rectify this. I continued to receive letters with my name spelt wrong.

After 9 months we decided not to renew our contract and put in writing when we planned to move out. Again they got the details wrong. When we needed a reference from them for our new property I had to ring them 3 times to ensure that this had been sent. Subsequently, the branch in my area did not always want to give adequate notice for new tenants to view our flat. When they did make appointments they had to ring my partner at work because they had LOST the spare set of keys for our appartment. We had to get another set cut for them!

The final straw was actually partly my fault. I stupidly forgot to cancel the standing order with Reeds Rains and consequently paid them an extra months rent after I had moved out. I contacted them about this immediately and it took 3 more phonecalls and 12 days for them to refund the money back into my account. K of their management team didn't seem very apologetic the final time I called but admitted she had forgotten all about it! I told her that I had had to borrow from my parents due to her forgetting and she promtly thanked me and ended the converstation. DO NOT let, sell, rent or buy properties with this company. They are incredibly incompetent and it comes right from the top.
