Advantages: None that I can remember
Disadvantages: Didn't know what they were doing, Very rude and aggressive, Expensive for what you get
They warn people off using drugs, but nobody gives you that warning when using an estate agent...well I say don't do it. I'd definitely think twice about using Reeds Rains, for what they cost you get very little in the way of service. We paid for a medium sale coverage, which included advertising that never, appeared. They lost us several buyers, and nearly lost us our new house; in the end our solicitor saved the day by avoiding Reeds Rains and going straight to our buyers solicitors. The hard facts it cost us £1,000 and this is what we got for our money an A4 leaflet (Cost to produce £50 estimated I work for a design company) a sign that spend about 75% of the time laid on the floor because it wasn't put up correctly six potential buyers.. one Reeds Rains told us not to go with because they were a pain in the bottom, but they sent them round anyway. one who offered about £10,000 under the value (on a £60,000 house) one who put in an offer of asking price, but pulled out after three weeks of us chasing reeds rains, they were basically a time waster. one who put in an offer of asking price, but pulled out after one week. The member of staff dealing with this took the offer details, rung us on the friday night then went on holiday with out telling anyone else, so nobody knew what was going on till she came back. one who put in an offer of asking price, but we had to pull offer from them after 15 weeks and they still hadn't even tried to exchange. one who finally bought the house for asking price, we skipped reeds rains and got the solicitor to sort the deal to make sure this one went through. That £1,000 well spent... We had to make at least two phone calls a week to remind reeds rains what they were doing. By all means use them to give you an estimate for the value of the house, they got that spot on, but for what adv
ice you get you may as well put a sign up outside your house and hope for the best. In fact that's what I'll do next time. Remember using estate agents isn't big and it certainly isn't clever.
