“ Hertfordshire based firm, dealing in sales and lettings. „
We used Simmons in August 2004 and were extremely unimpressed with their service. They found first time buyers for our property almost immediately. Supposedly, these buyers came recommended from a local surveyor and were in a position to move quickly with the purchase. To make a long story short, nothing happened. We waited to see some progress with the sale, but nothing materialised. And in the meantime Simmons refused to remarket the property saying that we would not be acting in good faith. Time and time again we were told they were getting the deposit together, that they had paid for searches and that the mortgage offer was ON ITS WAY. After 11 weeks, the truth surfaced. These people could not get a mortgage to save their lives. Their solicitor knew nothing about any deposit monies and had not been paid to do local searches. Had we been aware of what was ACTUALLY happening over those 11 weeks, this would have been easier to accept. But Simmons Estates gave us no indication of what the true position of the buyers was. And the fact that they made no effort to re-market the property made the situation quite unaccceptable. By that time the media were talking of a slump in the property market and we pulled the property and relisted it after Christmas. I am pleased to say that we sold it in early 2005, using Village Estates in Elstree. It was a smooth, hassle free experience and the estate agent couldn't have been more professional or proative in terms of chasing progress and keeping us informed.
