Don't rent from Townends, you will regret it, they do not represent their tenants, but are only looking to earn money. they charge £85 to renew a tenancy but this is only an email to all parties and when questioned about this huge amount they state it is in your contract, but it's not in mine. I was served notice before the end of my contact simply cause they wanted to put the rent up by £300 per month, they then wanted to offer me another tenancy including the huge charges. DON'T rent from Townends, they are money grabbing, horrible people working in the office who talk to you like dirt.

Afraid that the poor reviews are not surprising after my experience. When we wanted to get things fixed they were unbelievably slow to act - when they actually do get things fixed they 'do it on the cheap' meaning that more workmen have to be called out at a later date. When it comes to renewing your lease they will bump up your rent ... Read the complete review

Avoid Townednds At all costsThey do not provide inventory details on moving in even after repeated requests. They are very unhelpful and make no effort to comply with the law regarding refunding of deposits.

I've recently let my flat out to some tenants via Townends. After just 1 month I'm beginning to realise that this was a MASSIVE mistake! So far I've had to chase the management office 6 times to get a copy of the inventory (still haven't recieved it) and the essential certificates (which I've paid for!) I still haven't been ... Our experince of Townends Twickenham has been the worst we have ever had and i would strongly discourage anybody from working with this agency. It is not just the unhelpful lettings office staff, but now that we have moved out, also the deposits/end-of tenency team who after 3 weeks still refuse to reply to emails or telephone calls and as such, we are left without our deposit of £1600.

TOWNENDS ARE COMPLETE SCUM. I have recently ended a tenancy at a shared house of which I was a member for 1 year the 3 year term, upon leaving the property we have been asked to pay an extra £2000 on top of losing all of our existing deposit. This figure has been plucked out of the air with no evidential backup to pay for water damage ... Read the complete review

Basically I can't even describe that "lettings office". I am a foreign student that rented a house from them. I paid them 4500 pounds but they would not let me live in the house !! because my housemate's previous landlord didn't have fax paper to send to them a paper I don't even know what they need it for. I wish to add my review to Townends Letting in Egham. The ladies there are impatient, snobbish and rude. We've not even moved in, we paid a deposit to secure the flat, because the letting manager was impatient and argumentative and I thought do I really want to have this kind of aggro already even before moving in? I asked my deposit back and she refunded my deposit alright but she charged an admin fee for this? Can she do that? I'm thinking of reporting her to the HO of getting my admin fee back. I'd love to hear your comments on this.

We rent a property managed by Townends. Their sales staff were friendly and seemed to be very efficient. Unfortunately they were also blatant liars and everything they said would be done to the property before we moved in, still hasn't been done after 7 months and countless phone calls and e-mails to their property management team. We have also found their property management team very difficult to contact and very difficult to deal with. We have been incredibly disappointed with Townends and will deal with them again! They have ruined what should have been an enjoyable time in our flat.

I have been reading the reviews on the site about Townends and now know that I'm not the only person who thinks there incompatant, liars.I have been living in rented house for 7 months, i viewed the property 6 weeks before i moved in and was told that it would be cleaned, decorated and repairs would be seen to,as they had 6 weeks to do this i thought no worries! The day I moved in I spent in tears I could not believe that nothing had been done I was renting the property unfurnished there was still things in cupboards, cups plates ect bits of furniture, filth grease and grime! Broken cooker,Broken washing machine! I could go on and on, 7 months later still here living in a cold damp hell hole. I thinks the phonecalls I have made run into the hundreds! Still I have got know where.

I recently was looking for a house to let in Kingston/Surbiton area and I simply must disagree with all these negative comments. My experience was somewhat perfect! or maybe I was lucky enough to deal with a good location. I signed up in the Surbiton office who unfortunately didn't have anything suitable. They then drove me to their neighbouring office in Kingston (beyond the call of duty) don't these guys work off commission? not Foxtons at all. I felt really well handled. Anyways the team in Kingston were equally impressive and I found a cottage close to richmond park THAT VERY SAME DAY!!! to cut a long story short I found the process very refreshing and stress free. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL PARTIES CONCERNED.

These people are the most arrogant liars I have ever met in London. We lived in a flat managed by Townends (Putney, managing office in Surrey) for 2 1/2 years, and they were the laziest property managers; we know this for a fact now that we let from Warren. I suppose it's in the nature of sites like this that the bad reviews tend to outnumber the good, but buying a house through Brentford Townends was such a dismal experience that I feel obliged to pass it on if only to help set expectations for others. My experience of Townends is as a landlady.
