Advantages: good area, good design, fair style

Disadvantages: Poor finish, Slow attention, STRESS

We purchased a Wesbury Home in March 2001. To date we have approximately 75 "snags" dealt with, including replacement of bannisters which were chipped. Replacements of 4 kitchen cabinet doors which were scratched, attention to both showers, neither of which worked when we moved in.

Our carpets have been taken up twice to try to fix squeaking floorboards. We have had plumbing leaks, one necessitating the removal of part of the kitchen ceiling to rectify. This is the second patch on the kitchen ceiling, as the light fitting was cut wrongly and had to be rectified.

Breakfast room doors to the garden have required major adjustment, whilst the door from the dining room to the garden has had to be replaced.

The door to our bedroom was so badly fixed that the architraves had to be refitted and the door replaced.

The fastener (not the lock) on the bathroom door jammed (we had already had the en-suite fasteners repaired), necessitating the door being broken open. This then had to be

There is a new list of "snags" in preparation.

We bought a new house, but have ended up with a MUCH REPAIRED house. I gather that Westbury are among the six best builders. All I can say is Heaven Help the worst six.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't list all the problems - it bores me so I'm sure it would bore you.

Buying from Westbury was easy, and they give a wonderful brochure (Some of it is just like Tiger Tiger's comments).

Don&# 39;t be fooled though. For example "Sparkle Clean" when referring to my Westbury Home meant filthy and not fit for human habitation. We used half a bottle of cleaner and five buckets of water - and that was just for the kitchen cabinets!! Selene

I moved into a Barretts home (yes, I know!) It was built 7 years ago. When I moved the bath had not been put in properly and every time the previous tenant took a shower, water went down the sides of the bath and wet the floor underneath, as well as the wall leading to the lounge (a bungalow.) This was probably a lot to do with the previous owners too, but you wouldn't have thought a bath to cause this trouble after 7 years!
My parents are in a Ben Bailey home and it seems to me all these new houses do them on the cheap. Their paint is stripping away, their front door doesn't shut, and the downstairs toilet locks you in!
The quality of these homes are terrible for the prices you pay.
They just quickly build them as soon as possible, as cheap as possibe. take your money and move on elsewhere.

I can't remember the last time somebody said something good about a new house :( Got to be pretty damning for the UK housebuilding industry.
