I bought a newly-built three bedroomed house from Wilcon Homes (who are now called Wilson Connolly) on a new development in South Manchester three years ago. I thought I would be buying a new home which gave me peace of mind from the problems sometimes associated with buying older properties. I bought my first ever new house last year. First experience - delays from Wilcon solicitors meant that they started threatening to pull out of Exchange of contracts unless I paid a few thousand more pounds. My solicitor put them right about that and exchange went through smoothly. Second experience. Visited the site on a thursday morning in the middle of June when the site manager was available to discuss the progress on the house. He gave me an inkling that the property should be ready tail end of August (sales details stated July / August) due to unforeseen delays with contractors etc. This suited me down to the ground as it would give me plenty of ... aftersales appalling and they must hire the cheapest brickies. - Advantages: nice designs, good build inside - Disadvantages: back brickwork, aftersales dreadful
