I thought I would just let everybody who are thinking of using Your Move to manage their property to think again !! I want to share my experiences so that you may think twice about using them. We have always dealt with the head office in Southampton and have dealt with numerous maintenance managers, mostly through e-mail because we live in Australia and communication is some what difficult. We pay full management fee of 15%. We have had ongoing issues with plumbing which has resulted in repeated damages to paintwork/leaking through ceiling etc, and despite several contractors having been paid in excess of a thousand pounds for repairs, we recently received an inspection report informing us of a leak causing damage to the ceiling which needs our attention, as if they had no knowledge of the problem. There appears to be no communication within Your Move, no single person or department who takes responsibility for the property. A contractor who recently was called back to address a problem with his work stated that he would need another hundred pounds to come back to repair something which he had already been paid to repair. You would hope that the weight of a huge company dealing with so many properties might have fought our corner for us, but we were just informed that we would have to pay more money, again. There have been some occasions where, after becoming frustrated with lack of response or action from Your Move, our tenants have resorted to contacting us directly in Australia regarding problems with the property, and we have arranged for repairs to be completed and paid for ourselves from here, as it is often quicker than becoming embroiled in endless e-mailing for weeks or months to get a job done. If it were not for the benefit of the legal package and the rental guarantee we are insured for in our package, it would be very tempting to manage the property ourselves, although as we have never had to use either of these services in the time we have used Your Move, we are not in a position to state whether these would be implemented effectively if required anyway.
Summary: be prepared to feel as though you are managing your property yourself
