contagiousmind Sony STR DG710/S: ... Sony STR-DE710 is a 6.1 channel AV reciever, that has 2 HDMI inputs with one HDMI output, 2 Digital Optical, 1 digitial coaxial, and 6 phono/composite (Red, white + yellow) inputs. I can confirm that this AV reciever does have HDMI audio, which means you can get Dolby digital or DTS straight from the HDMI cable, if using something like an Xbox 360, PS3, Sky HD or HDMI dvd player. Which is a huge convenience. It ...

cmh4135 Inverto IDL-7000PVR-T
... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a Nutshell + An easy to use PVR with functionality more commonly found on more expensive models. Twin tuners allow for simultaneous recordings and the 14 day EPG makes recording a doddle. Integrated Freeview tuner. Ability to pause and rewind live TV. - Hard to find in stores and a few hardware issues that might cause you to lose or miss recordings. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Technology has come a long way since the days of tape recorders and video recorders. For many people, the convenience of a hard disc recorder is a plus - no tapes or DVDs to worry about and, to steal a quote from the old Scotch video advert you c...

davomrmac Apple TV 160 GB
... seems as though the Apple TV never really caught the attention of massive amounts of people in the UK, but listen up, this tiny device has seen some great improvements in the way of content. Apple always seem to do things with style. I own a lot of Mac equipment and one of these sits underneath mt TV. It stands about 4 CD cases high (28mm) and 197x197mm in width and depth. Around the back you have connections for USB, ethernet (to connect to your computer network for internet connectivity), HDMI, component and composite video and an optical audio (toslink) connection. The idea behind the AppleTV is th...

Then I settled on a Pioneer VSX-D2011 which did everything I needed for almost three years. With all the new sound formats coming out, like TrueHD, I wanted to get a new receiver. This one from Onkyo seemed just too cheap at under £400, but I decided to give it a go. First thing I noticed was the weight, it feels really light compared to my Pioneer. The only other slight negative is that you cannot rename inputs, so game/tv cannot be changed to ready PS3 on the front display. A minor thing, but worth mentioning. Everything else on this u...
