Onkyo TX SR606 ... have had home cinema kit for many many years now, even investing in the likes of Meridian processors which costs loads of money. Then I settled on a Pioneer VSX-D2011 which did everything I needed for almost three years. With all the new sound formats coming out, like TrueHD, I wanted to get a new receiver. This one from Onkyo seemed just too cheap at under £400, but I decided to give it a go. First thing I noticed was the weight, it feels really light compared to my Pioneer. The only other slight negative is that you cannot rename inputs, so game/tv cannot be changed to ready PS3 on the front display. A minor thing, but worth mentioning. Everything else on this u... Pioneer VSX 417-S ... purchased this reciever just over 6 months now and what can i say to this day it remains stunning. This is a very affordable way to get yourself immersed in surround sound through anything you can think of with surround sound capabilities. Being a stand alone AV Reviever as oposed to these all in one Dvd and surround sound packages it means the quality of sound is generally better. Also you are able to connect devices to it such as the Xbox 360 which you cant with all in one systems. There are 3 video inputs on this device and 5 audio, you can choose how to set it up. JVC RX ES1SL ... is one of those purchases that you ll look back on and never regret. If you re just starting to set up a nice seperates-system home cinema, you can do a lot worse. This amplifier offers Dolby 5.1 Digital surround sound in both pro-logic II and DTS. Other features include an AM/FM tuner, 5 seperate inputs, plus 2 digital (optical and RCA), so you ll really have to try hard to fill up all those sockets. You can use it as a scart switch too, so connect your VCR and DVD through scart, then the amp to the TV, and everything works flawlessly.
