The Onkyo TX SR876 it's a THX Ultra 2 Plus certified 7.1 channel audio video receiver.
His power ? 7 x 140 watts at 8 ohms, with a special equalizer called Audyssey.
It might be look expensive, but considering what it can do, it's not.
If you don't have 7 speakers, but you have 5, from which the 2 fronts (left and right) have the option of bi wiring, I highly recommend to use the bi amp option of the receiver, as it will help a lot at the sound quality.
The included microphone, for the initial calibration, should be placed at ear level, for optimal results, and be sure there are not other noises around, during whole operation.
The remote control it's backlit and pretty intuitive.
The audio is very clean but you have to study the manual if you want to find all the settings that might interest you.
Like every Onkyo, it's pretty warm, but don't worry, that's normal, especially for a giant like this. Just don't put it in a closed cabinet, it needs to breath, just like you. Actually, at this power, even Denon or whoever, can't be else than warm.
iT'S NOT 4K future proof, but you can always run your video files directly to your 4K TV, and use the receiver only for the superb sound.
It has 4 HDMI inputs, so it's enough to connect, let's say: a blu-ray player, a PS 3 console, a laptop and yet another device.
I highly recommend this to any Hi-Fi lover. You just can't go wrong with this model.
