A cheap way of getting surround sound !!!

I purchased this reciever just over 6 months now and what can i say to this day it remains stunning. This is a very affordable way to get yourself immersed in surround sound through anything you can think of with surround sound capabilities. Being a stand alone AV Reviever as oposed to these all in one Dvd and surround sound packages it means the quality of sound is generally better. Also you are able to connect devices to it such as the Xbox 360 which you cant with all in one systems. There are 3 video inputs on this device and 5 audio, you can choose how to set it up. When i had my SD tv i had the dvd, freeview and xbox connected to the 3 video and 3 audio and the pc audio connected to one of the audio inputs, now i have a HDTV i have connected the xbox sound to a sound channel, and the only video input on this thing i use is for my gamecube. The unit features 2 Coaxial digital cables which are used to get dolby digital and DTS from dvd's and digital sterio from freeview boxes, and one optical which is used for Xbox and some DVD players.

This is a fantastic purchase which i would recomend to anyone who is looking for surround sound

The 417 is designed and built to reproduce high performance, precise 5.1 surround sound from the most popular surround sound formats. It also incorporates Sound Retriever, a technology which up-converts compressed audio to CD-quality audio - ensuring that you benefit from quality audio, regardless of the original source.

By simply placing your speakers directly beside your TV screen and activating the unique Front Stage Surround Advance feature, you can experience a virtual surround sound environment. The benefit here is that you don't have to worry about routing speaker cables around your room; your speakers can be placed up front.
