I purchased this AV Receiver back in 2008 after researching which was the best for the price. It was purchased for around £300 and is a receiver that has many inputs for many devices. After researching I decided to buy this product over the Okyo TX-SR605 which costed £100 more at the time and had the HD audio codecs embedded into the reciever at the time. There are 3 HDMI inputs and one ouptut which are all of 1.3 specification. This can be used for DVD upscalers, HD satellite receivers and Blu Ray players. I primarily use this amplifier for a sky+ box and Playstation 3 console. Optical digital input is also present which can output 5.1 audio. Analogue HD component and traditional RCA inputs are also available if other devices are wanting to be connected to the AV Receiver which is very helpful and easy to connect. The maximum speaker configuration is 7.1 which when used, can give a truely natural surround sound environment. A 5.1 configuration can be used fo a more traditional surround sound set up if you wish to go down this route also. 100W per channel output is capable which is used for a vast range of speaker systems that can be connected to the AV reciever. I recommend this Reciever as it gives a lot of options for connection for the pricepoint.
The new STR-DG910 receiver offers HDMI "Active Intelligence," which automatically detects and receives optimal video and audio signals from connected devices. This all-digital path from source to display handles full 1080p HD resolution and up to eight channels of uncompressed audio.
Sony's new Digital Media Port adds to the connectivity options with wireless Bluetooth enabled devices, WiFi and other ways to simply connect music sources. Once this accessory is connected, the device is powered and controlled by the receiver.
The receivers also include BRAVIA Theater Sync, integrating their operation with a compatible BRAVIA television or video source like Sony's BDP-S300 Blu-ray Disc player over HDMI. With the touch of a button, you can turn on and switch inputs of connected devices automatically.
Additionally, Digital Cinema Auto Calibration is included, simplifying multi-channel surround sound setup with the use of a microphone for a balanced home theater experience.
Finally, this receiver offers a Portable Audio Enhancer. Plug any digital music player into the receiver and improve its clarity and depth by adding information to the audio signal that had been removed during compression.
The STR-DG910 7.1 channel A/V receiver has 110 watts of power per channel, offers on-screen set-up and is XM Connect-and-Play ready.
