Onkyo TX SR606 ... had this for about 7 months now, still as good as the day I got it. Onkyo produce recievers for people on a tight budget but dont let that fool you into thinking these are cheap . For under £400 and including Dolby TRUE HD with bandwidth of around 24mb/sec these recievers are a bit special, films sound stunning and so do games, music is not their strong point but you wont be complaining. Currently its linked to my computer and is doing a fantastic job, absolutely loaded with features many manufacturers are finding it hard to compete with this package as it also includes 4 HDMI video inputs. Onkyo TX-SR674 ... to be amazed! This amplifier gives you everything you could dream of and more for little more than the cost of a very mediocre high street sound system. To the untrained ear its comparable to the £2000+ Yahmaha range of amps but with a teeny £350 price tag you really won t be disappointed. Its got connections a plenty and is capable of 7.1 surround sound plus has a neat two room capability enabling you to have speakers in two different rooms but only listen in one unless of course you want music in both. Pioneer VSX-C301-S ... years ago I shelled out for my first HDTV, Argos had an offer on for 32inch TVs for £300 and I picked one up. Initially I just had it to play games on but after I saw a few films in High-Definition it really brought back my interest in watching films. With that in mind I decided to set up a full, home theatre setup around my TV. I wasn t too well off for money at the time and really didn t know anything about surround sound systems and made my first mistake on day one. I went out and bought a cheap 5.1 speaker set from Argos only to find it was really only four computers with 5.1 sound cards.
