Onkyo TX SR505 ... have lived with this AV receiver for about 2 years now and it does everything I ask of it. The build quality of Onkyo products is high and when you try to lift this beast you appreciate the quality. This AV receiver has an HDMI switch which is handy, note this is a pass-through only but handy when you try and connect all those inputs. The power of this amp shakes my apartment despite the fact I only have small satellite speakers and a dedicated amp. The best feature of this amp by far is the Audyssey 2EQ feature. Denon AVR-1804 ... can t fault the Denon brand for home theatre systems. There are a lot of cheap 5.1 systems nowadays that are very tempting, but if you want a true hair-raising experience, it s nice to go for something with substance - an amplifier like this one. We ve used ours to replace our ageing hi-fi alongside a Denon DVD player and a Bush turntable. The sound is so fantastic that we have never gone back to using the TV s inbuilt speakers. Most of the time, we use 5-channel stereo, providing clear sound all around the room. When we watch programmes with Dolby 5.1, it switches automatically. How could you have HD and not surround sound? Onkyo TX SR806B ... me, how do they do it for the money? My husband agonised over this (as with all his new tv stuff). He wanted a cinema system to go with the new tellie, so a set of speakers & a separate amp seemed the way to go, but although all the reviews from the likes of What Hi-Fi & such seemed to like this, it just seems too cheap. Well, the performance certainly isn t and it coped very nicely with what we have hooked up to it - LCD tv, Playstation 3 (with blu-ray capabilities) & the Virgin media box.
