I'm a firm believer that cooking, especially baking, is craft rather than science, so I don't tend to do a lot of sticking to recipes, and I like to ring the changes in the recipes that I do use. As self proclaimed Queen of Muffins (in my house at least!) I now offer you my basic, fool proof recipe for muffins - with ...  Read the complete review

Well this has proved a massive hit with adults and kids alike and the people at work beg me to bring this in for them! It is by far the best "cake that you don't have to bake" recipe that my mum and me used with when i was younger (although I'm not sure if it can really be classed as a cake). It has more chocolate than you can shake a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Serious Chocolate Blow-out Cake (593 words)
by - written on 05/07/08 (Very useful, 447 readings)
Rating:

This is a cake recipe which I made up myself when I was in deep need of both a cake and chocolate fix. I felt it better to merge the two deep passions together, rather than sit and gorge on one colossal mound of cake, and another colossal mound of chocolate. I managed to convince myself (falsely!) that I was being less sinful this ...  Read the complete review

I may be sad but I do love to make crumble mixes as there's something quite satisfying about it. Maybe it reminds me of when I was a child and used to play with sand? The taste is MUCH nicer than bought packet crumble mixes and, of course, cheaper. when I have the time I like to double-up on the ingredients so I can freeze ...  Read the complete review

So quick and easy to make, taste brilliant. I have also tried this by substituting the syrup with honey as I ran out, turns out to be just as fab. I have also used brown sugar at times which obviously darkens them but gives them this lovely caramel flavour.

Premium Review Baking: The Perfect Victoria Sponge (647 words)
by - written on 06/06/08 (Very useful, 107 readings)
Rating:

A decent Victoria Sponge is a baking staple. I've got the preparation down to about 12 minutes so it really is something that you can make in a hurry. This recipe makes a 30 x 25 cm cake, which is pretty big. I usually make up this amount of mixture as half of it is enough to make a small sponge and you can use the extra to make fairy ...  Read the complete review
