Advantages: Easy, quick, delicious, look good
Disadvantages: None
This one is a dead simple recipe with no cooking involved but the end result is lovely!
The recipe in question is for Rum Truffles.
You will need the following:
Petit Fours Cases
4oz drinking chocolate
4oz icing sugar
2 tablespoons (or thereabouts!) of rum
1 tablespoon of cream, top of the milk or evaporated milk
Chocolate sugar strands
All you have to do is to mix all the ingredients, with the exception of the sugar strands, together in a bowl to make a stiff paste.
You then take a small amount of the mixture, make it into a bite sized ball by rolling it between the palms of your hands and then roll it in the chocolate sugar strands so that it is coated.
You can either put the sugar stands in a saucer and roll the ball in them or you could put some sugar strands in a small plastic bag and then pop the ball inside and shake to coat the truffle.
There you have the perfect rum truffle and you just pop it into the petit fours case and there you are - finished! I told you they were simple to make, but they look and taste really good.
By the way just in case you don't know petit fours cases are the miniature cake cases.
If you don't like run you could do the same thing with brandy or whisky instead - we have tried them all and they are all nice!
So there it is - probably the shortest review that I have written in recent years but follow it and you will end up with delicious sweets, especially nice at Christmas for some reason!
Summary: Really easy to make - great to eat!
