Advantages: Everything!

Disadvantages: Nothing!

I have grown up with these and they are very cheap and filling.

Take a 1.5kg bag of Asda Smartprice Plain flour. Pour most of it into a large bowl but leave some for kneading on your worktop. Make a well in the flour and in this put 2oz of fresh yeast (I get mine for free from the instore bakery at Asda- just ask one of the bakers for some), a palm full of salt and a palm and a half full of sugar, then add some warm water and mix it all up until you get a dough.

Put the dough on a floured worktop and give it a good kneading for 10 minutes. Put back in the bowl and cover with a dampened clean tea towel and leave for 1 hour.

Put the dough back on the worktop and cut it up into 20 bits. Knead each bit on floured top for 1 minute until you get a round shape.

Put 4 bits onto a floured baking tray and put in the top of your oven for 4-5 minutes (Gas 8). Next take them off the tray on the shelf below straight on the wire. Leave for about 5 minutes again.

When they sound hollow put them on a cooling rack. Reapeat this until they have all been baked.

My husband and sons love these straight out of the oven with butter on but I normally do bacon and eggs in them.

You could make them smaller if you wanted as they are quite big. I normally freeze them too. They are very filling and very cheap to make. Enjoy!

Summary: A cheap meal which is very filling!
