Advantages: Quick, simple, easy, anyone can make it, no cooking required.

Disadvantages: Eat too much of it can make you feel sick, contains sugar.

Shrikand is a Gujarati dessert usually served at weddings as part of a thali (small portions of a variety of dishes in one plate).

Shrikand is an easy and simple dessert to make. It involves no cooking, and you can not possibly mess up.

Ingredients:

1 tub of Total Greek Yoghurt 500g
Sugar
Cardamom powder

Pistachios and almonds can be used as a garnish.

Method:

1. Drain the greek yoghurt, make sure there is no water left.

2. Add as much sugar you want to the greek yoghurt, make it sweet but not sickly, maybe best to put a 2 tsp of sugar to start of with and then add some more at the end if it needs more.

3. Add a tsp of cardamom powder (I usually just get cardomom pods and take out the seeds and roll a rolling pin to crush them)

4. Stir the mixture and taste to see if it need more sugar.

5. Allow the shrikand to chill in the fridge for an hour.

5. Serve into small serving bowls and maybe garnish with pistachios and almonds.

Nice to dunk plain biscuits with.

You can also make a mango shrikand version just by adding a bit of mango pulp to the mixture at the cardamom adding stage.

Summary: Easy Gujarati Dessert.
