Advantages: Quick, Easy & Delicious

Disadvantages: Can be addictive

Here is one of my favourite recipes thats quick and easy to make.

We as a family (except my daughter, who doesn't like " mushed up apple" as she puts it) Love Apple Crumble, so as not to get bored here's one with a difference-

Ingredients-
4 medium size cooking apples
brown sugar
water
2oz flour (plain/self raising)
2oz butter/marg ( you can't beat butter) extra small amount for the top
4oz ground almonds (thats the difference)
ground cinnamon (thats the twist)

Peel and chop apples place in a pan add a little water (not too much or it will be "mushy"
Add sugar to taste (I only have a sprinkle we don't like it too sweet)
Add a sprinkle of cinnamon (if you like it)
Cook on a low light (apple can burn very quickly) until the apples soft.
Place cooked apple in an oven-proof dish, shallow or deep whichever you prefer and leave until fairly cool approx 15 mins

Heat oven to Gas mrk 6 or 400 f

Place flour and ground almonds in a mixing bowl
Add firm butter/marg rub in together until mixture looks like bread crumbs
Pour crumble mixture on top of cooled apples
Sprinke sugar on top
Break up tiny pieces of butter/marg and "dot" all over the top of crumble

Cook on the middle shelf of the oven for approx 20 mins, the top should be lovely and brown.
Serve hot or cold ( I like it cold because the crumble goes hard) with cream, ice-cream or custard ( or all 3 if you fancy a challenge)

I find it good because I have to be careful how much wheat I eat and it hasn't got much flour in it, I did make it with just ground almonds once but it didn't work as well.

There you go as easy as that... Enjoy!

Summary: Versatile dessert thats quite a healthy option, doesn't contain much wheat
