Advantages: Delicious party piece, be the envy of your guests

Disadvantages: Calorie loaded. Despite being largely made from fruit!

Its no longer barbeque season, but I would buy a little disposable BBQ out the back just for the purpose of making this dessert, its so scrumptious and it is my absolute ''Pièce de résistance'' when it comes to entertaining.

Ingredients:
Selection of fruit cut in to chunks (or left whole in the case of strawberries, etc). Include Apples, Strawberries, Pineapple, Kiwi, Melon, Mango, etc
Sugar (brown if preferred)
Chocolate Chips suitable for a fountain or fondue (i.e. meltable). Splash out on Green and Blacks, or if your on a budget use a supermarket own brand
Cream: I use fresh whipping cream, but you may like to use canned cream to save time

You will also need a packet of bamboo skewers

Method:
Feed your chunks of fruit on to a skewer - around 8 per skewer. Mix it up and focus on colour and range of flavours - make them look pretty. Apples work the best, so I tend to use both green and red apples to make it interesting.
Next, place some sugar onto a plate, and roll your fruit kebabs in it, making sure they are well coated. Pile them up on a plate and leave in the fridge to absorb the sugar for about 45 minutes - an hour.
Just before you're ready to begin cooking, melt the chocolate in a suitable apparatus - this could be a glass bowl over a steaming hot pan.
Take one skewer per person (trust me that is all you will need) and then place on to a hot BBQ grill. As the fruit cooks, the sugar mixes with the natural juices and caramelises leaving a delicious brulee style crispness to the fruit (should take no longer than around 5-10 minutes.
Place on to a plate, with a dollop of cream and a drizzle of melted chocolate.

I promise you, you will be the envy of your friends and family, these are absolutely divine, and depending on what cream / sugar substitute you use, can be made quite low fat. But I only make them loaded with calories as they are so sickly you can't eat more than one, so it's a little one off indulgent treat.

Summary: Go out and buy a disposable bbq to try these, even though its freezing, you need to eat one!
