Being a good Scottish girl, I thought it was about time that I introduced Dooyooers to some good Scottish haute cuisine. What better than a dish containing some of Scotlands best home-made produce? Cranachan is extremely easy to make and extremely enjoyable to eat!

Cranachan
Ingredients
50g (2oz) Scottish porridge oats
150ml (5 fl oz) double cream
2 tablespoons whisky (+ some for yourself as a reward for making this!)
1 tablespoon clear honey
290g Scottish raspberries
fresh mint leaves to decorate if you are that way inclined.

Dry fry the oats in a non-stick pan for 4-5mins until golden brown. Put them on a plate to one side until they are cool.
Whip the cream until it forms soft peaks and then fold in the whisky, honey, raspberries and cooled oats using a METAL spoon. Only use metal as this will keep the air in your cream and stop it from turning into liquid again.
Spoon the mixture into 2 glasses and chill until you serve it.
I would recommend using a blended whisky for this recipe such as Bells or Grouse. It's not worth wasting a malt over as you won't really be able to tell with all the other flavours present!

Dead easy and absolutely delicious. Its an excellent dessert for an adult dinner party as it so easy to make, you can concentrate on the more tricky main course and spend some time with your guests.

As I always say - it has fruit in it so it has to be good for you!
