Advantages: gorgeous, very chocolatey, great if you fancy a nibble of something!

Disadvantages: can be sickly after about 3 portions, they don't last very long!, you really need to store them in the fridge

"Chocolate Come Again”

This is by far our favourite recipe for a gorgeous dessert, particularly at Christmas time. It’s also great to nibble while you’re watching tele!

Gently heat together in saucepan until all sugar is dissolved;

2 oz brown caster sugar
2 heaped tablespoons golden syrup
4 oz margarine

Bring to the Boil.
Remove from heat and stir in;

3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
a few drops of vanilla essence

….and anything else you like, eg. glace cherries, nuts, sultanas, dried fruit, alcohol!!!

Finally, add ½ lb of crushed digestive biscuits.

Level in a tin and put in fridge to cool – when cool you could pour some melted chocolate on the top or icing, then cut into little squares. We make Xmas puddings by scooping spoonfuls of the mixture into little pretty cake cases.

After you have made it and ate one, you will realise why the recipe is so called! Happy munching!

By the way, our other two favourite desserts of all time come from the new Jamie Oliver book “Happy Days with the Naked Chef”, entitled “King of Puddings” and “Lemon Curdy Pie”. However, I am unable to write down the recipies in this review, for fear of infringing copyright, so you will just have to buy the book and then try them out for yourself. They really are gorgeous!
