I really couldn't get into writing another beauty review at the moment so I thought Id try and ease myself into writing my food reviews with some recipes. Now this going to make me sound like a proper alcoholic but I absolutely LOVE cocktails but buying them in pubs and clubs can get really expensive so I thought Id have a read up on making my own. Luckily my mom loves a good cocktail so she went out and bought a book with 365 cocktail recipes in it so we could try some out. Me & my mates have a running joke that one year we are going to try and drink our way through the book in under a month, but we have never got round to it yet! Anyway I'll try and give you readers a few of my favourite cocktail recipes in this review and I'll try and review a range and not just the ones I like.
28ml Of Vodka
14ml Peach Schnapps
& A Lime Wedge To Garnish
How To Make: Simple. You simply put all of the ingredients into a glass that is filled with ice and stir it. You can choose to garnish with a wedge of lime which is meant to compliment the drink.
I love drinking this when I go out because it is really refreshing.
Purple Passion Tea:
1 Passion Fruit (Peeled)
7ml Light Rum
112ml Sour Mix (Lemon, Lime & Sugar Mixed)
7ml Lime Juice
How To Make: Muddle the passion fruit in a cocktail shaker. Add all the ingredients to the shaker apart from the lemonade and begin to shake with ice. Pour it into a glass and then top with lemonade.
This looks really pretty in a glass and has a proper tangy taste to it which is really nice.
A Single Espresso (Hot)
21ml Single Cream
1 Dash Of Sugar Syrup
How To Make: Pour all of the ingredients into a shaker, shake and then strain into a martini glass. You can sprinkle chocolate flakes over the top to garnish.
I really like coffee of any sort and this was a really nice twist.
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1tsp Orange Juice
You just shake the ingredients together with ice and then strain into a glass.
This drink is NOT for everyone because it is pretty sour and I know not everyone will like it.
21ml Cherry Brandy
21ml Dry Vermouth
Pour all the ingredients into a shaker with ice and well, shake. Then strain into a glass.
This is a nice drink I think, not one of my favourites but one I would certainly try again.
[You may have noticed I haven't really added any of the proper popular cocktails! That's because I'm offering people a different option :)]
14ml Sloe Gin
1 Tbsp Lime
Blend all the ingredients together with about half a cup full of ice then you simply pour into a glass and add ice to taste.
This is a really refreshing drink to have on a nice summer day.
Hot Pants: (One Of My All Time Favourites.)
14ml Of A Liqueur Of Your Choice (I usually use amaretto)
1 Tbsp Of Grapefruit Juice
2 Mint Leaves
1 Tsbp Of Sugar
Just shake all the ingredients together in a cocktail shaker and pour into a glass over ice.
This is a really nice drink and Ive tried it with a few different liquors and it is really nice whatever you use because every time you use a different flavour you end up with a slightly different taste.
Liquors & Other Spirits:
The Fuzzy Navel:
28ml Peach Schnapps
A Dash Of Soda
Pour the Schnapps & Vodka into a glass with ice and stir. The add the orange juice leaving a tiny bit of room at the top to add the soda.
This is meant to be a fizzy version of Sex on The Beach but I don't think they taste anything like each other if I'm honest. And this one is meant to be good for cocktail virgins!
Just pour both ingredients into a glass and stir. Add ice if you wish.
This is probably the most simple cocktail to make and its tastes amazing as well. It is really rich though so if you dont like rich drinks this isnt a good one to try.
Splash & Crash:
168ml Cranberry Juice
56ml Orange Juice
14ml Of 151-Proof Rum
Pour the first 3 ingredients into a glass with ice and then float the rum on top. DO NOT STIR. Then add a straw.
You are supposed to drink this with a straw and it is not meant to be stirred. I dont know whether its anything to do with the way its made but this drink is STRONG. I wouldnt advise having more than one lol.
Non-Alcoholic: (Just In Case =])
Shirley Temple (The Most Obvious)
A Dash Of Grenadine
Just pour the ingredients into a glass with ice. Pretty and pink is a great way to describe this drink.
4 Fresh Strawberries
1 Peach (Peeled, Pitted & Sliced)
1/2 Banana (Obviously Peeled & Sliced)
112ml Plain Yogurt
1 Drop If Vanilla Extract
Pinch Of Cinnamon
Put all the ingredients into a blender with half a cup of ice and blend until smooth. Then just pour into a glass.
This to me tastes exactly like a smoothie but it is really nice.
Making your own cocktails is great because you can add or take away ingredients to suit your tastes. Ive tried to do a range of the less well known cocktails in my review and I hope you liked it. Don't get to drunk *hic*.
Thanks For Reading
