I do enjoy a little tipple every so often and in the summer or when on holiday I really enjoy trying different cocktails. My favourite cocktails tend to be fruit based ones with my favourites being cosmopolitan, margarita and woo woo.
Cocktails can be rather expensive to make as some can take quite a lot of ingredients but they are very easy to make yourself and it means you can experiment with different combinations and ingredients to make your own special concoctions. One combination that I tried for the first time a couple of years ago is the following:
Sparkling white wine or Champagne (chilled)
Slices of fresh Orange to decorate.
Add one measure of cointraeu to a champagne flute, fill half way up the glass with orange juice and top up with sparkling wine. Add a slice of orange to the side of the glass for decoration and any other cocktail decorations you may have, I always find the little paper umbrellas look slightly tacky but cute in a cocktail.
This is not the cheapest cocktail to make but it is quite strong so you don't need many of them to feel a little on the wobbly side. I tend to make these when I have friends visiting as once you open the champagne/sparkling wine you need to use it all quite quickly and if using champagne flutes it is possible to get about 10 glasses from one bottle of champagne/sparkling wine.
You could also make this cocktail in a large jug and add some sliced oranges or set some orange pieces in ice cubes to make it a little more interesting.
This is certainly a tasty cocktail and worth a try especially on a nice hot day or for a special occasion.
Summary: A fruity one!
