Advantages: it's lovely!
Disadvantages: a bit chilly this time of year!
I love Iced Coffee, and after experimenting for a while, I came up with a perfect recipe!
You'll need:
-A kettle
-A jug
-Water
-Coffee
-Vanilla/Chocolate Ice Cream
-Milk
-A blender/smoothie maker
1. Make your coffee: I found the easiest way was to make a standard mug-full of strong black coffee with no sugar, use 2/3 teaspoons of coffee, otherwise you'll lose the taste of it once you've mixed it all together! Pour the mug-full in to the jug, and repeat the process depending on how much iced coffee you want to make, or how strong you want the iced coffee to be. Feel free to put more/less coffee in... it's your drink after all!
2. Leave the coffee out for a while to cool down, then place the jug in the fridge for a couple of hours until it's cold. Come back when it's done... I personally made the coffee and put it in the fridge in the evening and finished my drink off the next day!
3. Now you have to melt some ice cream! Use how ever many scoops you want to... I use quite a lot as I like my iced coffee nice and thick, and creamy! Leave the scoops in the blender for a while to soften up, then when the time comes, switch that blender on! Then add some milk, and repeat the process until you're happy with it! ...Don't forget to put the blenders' lid on!
4. Now you have a nice creamy drink, add the coffee. you might have to do it in two or maybe three lots depending on how much coffee you made! It should look quite thick... if it's to thick for you, add some more coffee or milk. Keep tasting the iced coffee during the process as you may like yours differently to mine!
5. Pour the drink into your jug, and put in the fridge for a while. Finished!
Serving Suggestions:
You'll need:
-Vanilla/Chocolate Ice Cream
-Square of chocolate, biscuit or similar
-Cheese Grater
-Iced Cubes
-Tall glass
-Straw(s)
1. I personally like to chill my glass before serving, mine are usually chilled because the cupboard they're in gets so cold, but if not put it in the fridge for a bit to cool it down.
2. Get one scoop of your chosen ice cream and plop it in the bottom of the glass.
3. Grate half of your chocolate, biscuit or similar on to the ice cream.
4. Drop 1 or 2 iced cubes in to your glass.
5. Slowly pour your iced coffee in to the glass.
6. Grate the rest of your chocolate, biscuit or similar on the top of your iced coffee.
7. Dunk in a straw or two, and serve!
Summary: a lovely drink on a hot summers day... or a well heated living room!
