Advantages: Warming and fruity

Disadvantages: Stay indoors for goodness sake - it makes you sweat buckets!

I am mad about tea, and thought about how to make my own fruity, spicy tea, without Twinnings, beacuse they are quiet frankly, not good enough.

This tea is best in a teapot with an inbuilt strainer as you will be needing to contain both fruit, tea and spices. You could have them floating around in any old teapot but I personally find teapots with a central strainer tidier and the consumption smoother and less 'bitsy'.

So, you will need the following

- 1 Teaspoon of Dark Oolong (Wu-Long) Tea or Lapsang Souchong for a woodier flavour. In all honesty even a single tea bag of the bog standard variety is good too.

- 1 or two teaspoon of Cinnamon
- A hearty piece of Root Ginger
- Couple of slices of Plum
- Half or one teaspoon of Crushed chillies (can get in any supermarket but I encourage to but from a local business)
- Slice of lemon or orange...if it does not fit in the strainer then drop into tea pot.

Then all you do, is pour boiling water over your concoction and leave to brew for 5 minutes! You can use this 3- 5 times, bare in mind that it will get weaker with each use. I recomend you push down the mix whilst it is soaked in the boiling water, to get the maximum strength and flavour.

Healthy Attributes

- The benfits of this tea, is good if you have a cold, the chillies are good cleansing agents.
- The lemon or orange for vitman C
- The plum (also high in vitamin C, also fibre) and cinnamon is a good natural sweetener
- Ginger is good for settling stomachs and for joint troubles (also helpful in a cold), whilst complementing the chillies perfectly.

REMEMBER! The fun of this is that you can adjust the ingredients to your needs and replace anything you do not like the sound of. If you are stuck for ideas, just message me.

I am a fountain of food knowledge. :-)

Summary: A cosy tea with a daring jab!
