TESCO VALUE BEEF:- QUICK FRY STEAK!
 
 
I had never tried value line meat but being quite a fan of the Tesco Value range in general I decided to give it a go. I had invited my parents round for a meal and planned to cook steak for my partner and my dad(my mum and myself are veggies) money being a bit tight I was drawn to the value steak it is 6.77/kg and the tray I picked up was only £1.76 for 6 pieces(alarm bells should have rung know!!) but I went for it.
 
The packet is quite plain just the polystyrene tray and the plastic covering the meat, it has a label on the front with the value logo in the corner, it also shows the nutritional value.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
3 TO 5 Mins on a hot grill depending how well done you like it.
 
I had everything almost done, so I heated the grill and popped the steak on. Imagine my horror as the meat shrivelled almost as soon as it touched the grill, watery fat just poured out of it and it turned a horrible elephant grey colour. In fact it looked like elephant hide!! I was mortified, I did serve the steak but it was so tough and totally tasteless the two men couldn't eat it. They gave it their best shot and chewed for ages but in the end the steak went into the cats bowls! Who by the way wouldn't even consider it!!
 
 
So in conclusion,Tesco value steak is definatly one to avoid, it might be cheap and look like a nice piece of steak but when it ends up being thrown out it is false economy! I for one definatly wont get it again I will stick to the butchers!!!!!!!
