Advantages: no caffeine

Disadvantages: heavy on the cinnamon

I suffer badly from insomnia and a friend gave me a box of 'Heath and Heather,' Cinnamon, Honey and Vanilla tea bags to try.

The idea was that if I drank this after teatime instead of conventional tea I might sleep better. Vanilla and honey are said to aid restful sleep and relax the body, so I gave it a try.

What is in these tea bags?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The ingredients are 100% natural and they come in teabags complete with tags to make it easy to use them. The ingredients are:

Apple peel,

blackberry leaves,

cinnamon,

hibiscus,

rosehip,

natural flavourings, (these aren't specified),

chicory,

vanilla,

dried honey.

How to make this tea:

You can place one teabag in a cup of boiling water and leave to infuse for three minutes. You do need the full three minutes to get the full flavour.

If you want to make this in a pot use one teabag per person and leave for the same amount of time.

Serve with a spoonful of honey to taste if you wish.

How does it taste? Smell?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

This nothing like conventional tea. The aroma is of cinnamon is quite strong but you can still smell the tang of the blackberry leaves and a hint of vanilla.

The cinnamon is, in my opinion, the strongest part of the taste. There is however a deffinate fruity flavour too. There is perhaps a little too much of the cinnamon taste for my pallette.

Verdict:
+++++++++

This tea is pleasant and refreshing and it doesn't contain any caffeine. I did sleep better after drinking it, but whether this was because of the lack of my usual caffeine quota, or the relaxing properties of the tea, I'm not sure.

I enjoyed these teabags but I do think that they are a little heavy on the ciannamon smell and taste. I would have preferred more van
illa and less cinnamon. This, of course, very much depends on individual pallettes. You might prefer it just the way it is.
