Advantages: QUICK AND EASY
Disadvantages: NO GOOD IF YOU DO NOT LIKE PASTA
This is a very quick and very easy pasta dish to make. I have been making this for many years and I have never had any complaints. You can purchase all the ingredients you need from your local supermarket.
FIFTEEN MINUTE PASTA RECIPE - SERVES FOUR
INGREDIENTS:
1 x 250g packet of Conchiglie Pasta Shells
1 x 185g tin of Tuna
1 x 325g tin of Sweetcorn
2 x tablespoons of Very Light Mayonnaise
1 x teaspoon of salt
UTENSILS:
1 x Large pan
1 x collander
1 x wooden spoon
1 x Tablespoon and 1 teaspoon
1 x can opener
Take the large pan and half fill it with cold water.
Place the pan on the hob and bring the water to the boil.
Add the pasta shells to the boiling water and stir.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the pasta.
Give the pasta a stir, every two minutes, with the wooden spoon. Allow the pasta to simmer for ten minutes until soft.
While the pasta is simmering open the cans of sweetcorn and tuna and drain them.
When the pasta is ready carefully transfer the pasta into the collander and allow to drain. When drained, return the pasta to the pan.
Add the drained sweetcorn and drained tuna to the pasta and mix with the wooden spoon. Then add 2 tablespoons of very light mayonnaise and mix in well using the wooden spoon.
You can serve this up straight away while it is still hot or you can leave it to cool.
I normally serve this with a Tesco 'light choice' Garlic Baquette. This takes 10 minutes in the oven and heats up while I am making the pasta.
The pasta will keep in the refrigerator for 2 days and can be eaten cold or reheated in the microwave whichever you prefer.
I tend to do a lot of my shopping in Tesco so my ingredients are tesco's own brands.
Each serving of this pasta contains:
Pasta - 195 calories and 0.6g of fat
Tuna - 35 calories and 0.2g of fat
Sweetcorn - 50 calories and 1.05g of fat
Very light mayonnaise - 7 calories and 0.35g of fat
This is quick and easy to make and is also a healthy option. Obviously this is a very adaptable recipe and you can tailor it to your own tastes.
In case you are interested the Light choice garlic baquette contains 135 calories and 3.3g of fat per one quarter of the baquette.
Summary: GREAT IF YOU ARE IN A HURRY
