Advantages: Gorgeously cheesy pasta
Disadvantages: None
I love pasta and could eat it every day of the week very happily, its cheap and can be made into an endless variety of delicious meals and snacks that can be enjoyed at any time.
I love especially to make cannelloni but I have managed to find pasta tubes that are large enough to be able to fill them without me ending up swearing and in a huff. I prefer to buy pasta sheets such as lasagne and roll them up.
To make the cannelloni I do the following:
* Preheat the oven to 200degrees (I dont know what gas mark that is as I dont use a gas oven!)
* Spread a thick layer of passata in a large baking dish/lasagne dish and set aside.
* Precook half a pack of lasagne sheets - boil for about 4-5 minutes until softened but not completely cooked through.
* Whilst the pasta is cooking mix 500grm of cream cheese with a beaten egg, crushed garlic and as much spinich as you want (I wilt it in boiling water before mixing into the cheese mixture)
* Once the pasta sheets are done, lay one out on a chopping board and dollop a large spoonful of the cheese/spinach mixture in the middle then roll the sheet up. Repeat with the rest of the pasta sheets and place them all side by side in the dish layering them up any cheese mixture left over.
* Finally top the pasta off with plenty of grated cheddar then place in the oven until the cheese is bubbling and golden, this normally takes about 30 minutes.
I like to serve this with a huge green salad and garlic bread. It's very filling and great for informal dinner party with friends or for a treat at the weekend.
Summary: A brilliant way to cook with pasta
