PASTA

Many varieties of pasta can be bought in supermarkets
As well as the standard dried pasta it is possible to buy fresh pasta in delicatessens.
Pasta can come in many shapes for different dishes attractive ones in different shapes, appealing to children coloured pasta white green and red. Spagetti tagletelli macaroni, noodles, vermicelli, cannelloni and more
Pasta can be very cheap value and you need not add expensive ingredients to make a filling nutritious meal.
There are so many pasta dishes and as many rice or maybe more
It is possible to make your own pasta with a special machine I don’t, haven’t the time I did try making lasagne pasta once but a lot of effort when its so easy and cheap to buy.

Pasta is mainly a carbohydrate food containing vitamins and minerals. The good quality pasta contains protein too.
Most Pasta is made from Durham wheat and water. Some including eggs green pasta has added spinach, red tomato or peppers. It is possible to buy wholemeal pasta.

Quantities well about 125-150g of dried uncooked pasta per person for a main course dish

Pasta should be cooked in fast boiling salted water use a big saucepan add a little oil to the pan it stops it sticking saves the washing up.
Usually instructions are on the side of the pack but spaghetti takes about 10 mins, smaller shapes about 6 minutes. Pasta should be cooked so it is still firm, check it before serving.
Rinse it under water and drain well.
Best eaten immediately.

Here is a recipe for pasta with cheese and mushrooms I think mushrooms are great with pasta.
225g/ 8oz pasta recommended tagliatelle, but any shape or spaghetti is fine.
25g/1oz butter,
1 garlic clove,
225g 8oz mushrooms
50g 2oz Stilton cheese,
60ml4 tablespoons double cream
1 egg,
Salt and pepper
125g 4 oz mozzarella cheese.

Cook the pasta for abou
t 7 minutes while melting the butter in a large frying pan cook the mushrooms and garlic in the butter until softened then crumble in the stilton and cook 1 or 2 minutes stir in cream and add seasoning.
Drain pasta mix pasta and mushrooms stir in beaten egg and mix put pasta and sauce in oven proof dish put the mozzarella sliced on top cover with foil and bake in oven 180c gas4 for 10 minutes, remove foil and continue baking at 210c for 10 more minutes till cheese is brown on top serve for 2 with a green salad.

Pasta with tomatoes.

225G-8OZ pasta. Spaghetti or shapes.

225g 8oz tomatoes
1 small onion.
15ml, 1 tablespoons oil.
5ml, 1 level tsp oregano 1garlic clove crushed.
Dash of Tabasco sauce,

You can add a spicy pork sausage (8oz) to this if you want or chopped ham or bacon.

Fry onion and garlic lightly in frying pan.
Add chopped tomato bring to boil reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes.
Then sieve the sauce and cook until the tomato sauce is thick. Add oregano; meanwhile cook spaghetti (or preferred pasta)
Serve and sprinkle Parmesan cheese (see my previous op) over top.

A good way to serve soup is to add some tiny pasta shapes I have seen tiny shell and stars, souper kids love to find them in their soup

Things are so cheap and readily available these days it's not surprising that people don't bother with cooking and baking as much any more.

It's so much cheaper to buy a dessert than make one, still that's not always a bad thing!

Wish i could make myself eat more healthy stuff like rice and pasta. I tend to grab anything which isn't.
