Advantages: really warming

Disadvantages: none to me

This is a recipe for beef casserole, its a real warming meal ideal for the winter months ahead, it serves four people.

Ingredients:
750g lean stewing beef
half a cup of plain flour
1 onion
1 carrot
1 beef stock cube
2 cups of hot water
1 tablespoon of tomato sauce
1 tablespoon of worcester sauce
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of vinegar
half teaspoon of ground nutmeg
pinch of salt and pepper

1) put oven on to 180 degrees
2) trim any fat from beef, slice into bite size chunks.
3) toss beef in the flour until each piece is coated.
4) put in casserole dish, then peel and chop onion and carrot and add to beef.
5) dissolve stock cube in hot water and stir in the sauces, then stir in the brown sugar, vinegar, nutmeg and salt and pepper.
6) pour it all into the casserole dish then place in oven for two hours.

This recipe is for cooking in the oven, but i actually have a slow cooker which i prepare this in, if you have a slow cooker then do the same recipe but cook for 4 hours on the lower heat setting instead of 2.

Me and my daughter love this, hope you enjoy this warming winter recipe too.

Summary: lovely to come home to

The more personal opinion you can offer around the recipe itself, the better, I find! I always put garlic and mustard into my slow-cooked beef stew, would never have thought of sugar and vinegar!
