Advantages: makes hearty lunch, very tasty

Disadvantages: could be expensive if using sirloin

In my opinion you can't go wrong with a good old steak sandwich, not for a packed lunch or anything but a nice Saturday lunch or even a light (or heavy depending on the size of steak and bread) diner. The mustard mayo on the bread makes all the difference, so does the type of steak you use, so go for the most expensive you can afford - sirloin is best, but frying steak will be tasty too if you're on a budget.

So here we go, this version makes 2. You will need:

4 slices of crusty Italian bread
300 g flank steak
3 garlic cloves, minced , minced
½ Tbsp crushed black pepper
4 Tbsp olive oil
1 tomato , sliced
3 slices of onion
a few rocket leaves
1 Tbsp mayonnaise
1 tsp Dijon mustard 1 tsp whole grain mustard
salt and pepper

1.Make the marinade. Into the bowl put the garlic, crushed pepper, and a half of the oil. Season with salt and mix well. Next, put the steak in the bowl and rub it into the marinade while turning. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.

2.Make the spread - In the mayonnaise bowl combine the Dijon mustard and the wholegrain mustard. Season with salt and pepper and mix.

3.Season the bread. Brush each side of each slice of bread with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

4.Fry the steak or use one of those grill pans if you have one and grill the bread until crispy.

5.Slice the steak. Allow the steak to rest for about 5 minutes. Cutting against the grain, make thin slices of the meat. if you have used frying steak just slice into strips.

6.Spread the mayonnaise and mustard mixture over all four slices of bread and add the sliced steak, rocket tomato and onion.

7.Eat. Yum..........
