Advantages: I love them all
Disadvantages: you might not
Everybody loves a good old sandwich, as they can be eaten at anytime of the day, Either for breakfast, lunch, or just as a quick snack, you can just about stick anything in a sandwich, or like a sandwich can go with anything.
We all have secret weird and wacky fillings that we like to endeavor when nobody's looking, i know i do! So i shall give you my five top sandwiches i love...
~Coronation Chicken, with lettuce,red onion and Tomato~
This has to be one of my favorites, my sister introduced it to me years and years ago, i either make the coronation sauce from scratch or sometimes cheat and buy it from the supermarket, to make it fresh i boil two fresh chicken breast in a pan until cooked, drain, and leave it cool and then chop into thin pieces.
I take a cup of mayonnaise, add a splash of milk and mix together making the mayo creamy, add 1-2 tsp of curry( this can vary depending on how strong you want your sauce), add a handful of chopped apricots and raisins and mix together, add the chicken and mix throughly. Chop some fresh lettuce, and slice half a tomato, and 4 slices of red onion, and either use on white/brown bread.
~Bacon, mushroom, and brown sauce~
I love having one of these on a cold winter morning to start my day off and there simple and easy to do, start by either grilling or frying your bacon to how you like it, chop your mushrooms thinely, and add to the pan, whilst there cooking butter your bread, and spread evenly the brown sauce( has to be HP), drain off your bacon and mushrooms and add to your sandwich. This is a simple combination, but with the mixture of tastes from the brown sauce and bacon, it makes it melt in your mouth.
~Tuna mayo, with red pepper and onion~
I could eat tuna mayo on it's own, but when i was down in London once i was in a cafe and thought I'd try this, again the taste sets your tastebuds tingling for more!- To make i open and drain a can of tuna, you can either then add salad cream or mayo-which ever you prefer and how much again is up to you. Finely chop half a red pepper, into inch long slices, dice half a onion into tiny pieces and mix both the pepper and onion into the tuna, and add a pinch of pepper. Thinly butter two slices of wholemeal bread and add tuna, to finish add a handful of rocket or mixed leaves.
~ cheese spread and tomato sauce~
I know it sounds weird but i discovered a couple of years, when there was nothing in the fridge to eat, apart from some laughing cow cheese triangles, some tomato sauce and butter, so i thought why not?? and it turns out it tastes really yummy, i prefer to have it with soft white bread, compared to brown.
~ Bacon and brie,with cranberry sauce~
Although it's best to have this as a toasted sandwich, you can still class it as a sandwich, my local pub does the most amazing sandwiches, and this is one of my favorites from there, i also make it at home.
First i grill/fry the bacon lightly, then i pop two slices of bread under the grill and again lightly toast, i then add thinly sliced pieces of brie to one slice, and the bacon to the under, pop back under the grill for about 3-5minutes,until cheese has melted, take out and add a dollop of cranberry sauce to each of the slices and eat whilst hot.
Well thats my top five favorite sandwiches, some of them weirid, but all of them totally delicious it their own way, there all simple to make and don't cost a bomb either. Plus you don't need to be a top chef to achieve these neither, you just need a pinch of imagination.
Summary: Go on get creative, with your sandwich
