Advantages: Its a sandwich, whats not to love about it?!

Disadvantages: None at all

Everyone loves sandwiches dont they? I certainly do and never get tired of my favourites or trying new combinations of fillings, of course I love the old standards of egg and cress, cheese and ham etc... but I also enjoy a few slightly different and as my friends would say, posher variations.

My all time fave sandwich is thick cut soft white bread filled with egg mayonnaise, crumbled feta cheese and sliced avocado. It's creamily indulgent and tastes a million dollars when washed down with a cup of steaming hot herbal tea. I cant have this one too often sadly as all the gooey mayonnaise and avocados make this quite fattening, still it's fantastic for the occassional weekend treat.

Another fave of mine I have discovered recently is brie and bacon on ciabatta, I tried this at a new Italian style cafe thats recently opened in town. They didnt have the filling I wanted so I tried bacon and brie instead at the waiters suggestion and I'm very pleased I did, the saltiness of the bacon and creaminess of the slowly melting cheese were perfect together and left me both satisfied and wanting more at the same time!

I could go on forever about the wonders of the sandwich and the many hundreds of gorgeous types of bread and fillings I like but the two I've mentioned above will do for now....and.....of course everyones fave as a kid (well it was mine anyway) cheese and onion crips and cheese on white bread! its childish and in no way nutrious at all but it takes me back to when I was even smaller than I am now and always gives me a girly smile when I indulge.

After writing all this I feel like a sandwich now and its only breakfast time! bring on 1pm!

Summary: Who can beat something as simple and satisfying as the humble sarnie?
