Advantages: cheap, healthy choice

Disadvantages: bit of organisation, getting up 5 mins earlier

If you are trying to save money as shop bought sandwiches are so expensive now and you can end up spending £5 a day on a shop bought lunch then here are a few suggestions.

If you are at home and have a sandwich toaster/panini press/grill in the oven:

1.Brown bread, mozerella/cheddar cheese sliced, onion sliced, tomato puree, oregano

This is a great mini pizza, just grill or press for a few minutes until the cheese has melted and the bread starts to go brown and crispy. That would cost you £4 in Costa coffee.

2. Brown bread, cheddar cheese, half can of tuna

This makes a great tuna melt and would also cost you £4 in Costa

3. Brown bread, red pesto spread on bread, mozerella cheese

Another one that tastes just like costas and only costs £4 to feed 4 people for a few lunches. You can use any leftover pesto for dinner with some pasta.

If your not at home at lunchtime, then you can have any sort of filling and this can be bought in bulk for example: Buy a block of cheese/ham, a lettuce, a cucumber and some loose tomatoes. Then get 2 loafs of bread and freeze one. Every day before work/uni make 2 sandwiches and this should be enough to last you until dinner (unless you go to the gym a lot then you might need 4 sandwiches and a banana).

If you dont like bread you can have a pitta bread which makes you feel less bloated. In this you can have precooked falafel and natural yoghurt and the salad that you bought earlier.

Another choice instead of bread is wraps. They are very cheap for a pack of 8. Freeze them and take one out the night before you need it. My favourites are:

Herb wrap, tuna + maionnaise, cucumber chopped into little chunks, lettuce. Very filling and tastes great.

Plain wrap, houmous, and all the salad you bought earlier.

These are all things I like to eat for lunch without having to spend anymore money than I usually do on the weekly shop.
If you just plan slightly ahead you can save yourself a lot of money and then you know what is going into your food.

Summary: I love eating
