A great fridge freezer for a small family, it has plenty of space in the fridge compartment with adjustable racks bottle holder. The salad drawer comes in handy and can hold a substantial amount of food. The temperature control is nice and handy also. The only negative for the fridge is that with the light being on the top it reduces ... the space for things in the middle of the top shelf.
The freezer can easily hold two weeks worth of shopping, although the front of the drawers are fragile and can come away if too much is put in them. The freezer door has a tendency to squeak although this may be a one off.
The fridge freezer overall is a good size and can easily fit into a smaller space. Both the fridge and freezer door are reversible and the freezer also comes with a free ice cube tray and 2 egg holders. Read the complete review |

I have had this fridge for just over a year - typical, just out of warranty and all the problems start!!!
The Fridge
The fridge itself is white and very ordinary. A typical budget fridge. It is taller than a lot of fridges and will not fit under a work surface. It has a capacity of 8.83 cu. ft. The door can be set ... to open to the left or the right ( we have ours to the right). It has a salad drawer at the bottom although it does not hold a lot - if you put a 5kg bag of potatoes in it then nothing else will fit. There are a number of shelves on the door. The bottom one holds bottles and will fit 4 one litre bottles with ease. The other shelves are 3 ordinary ones and an egg shelf (which can be removed). The main fridge has five shelves which are made from blue glass. There is also a light which comes on when the fridge opens and a temperature dial.
Energy
The fridge had the following energy details -
Energy Efficiency A
Annual Energy Consumption 204 kWHrs
Number Of Motors 1 Motor
The problems
Right - where do I start, the first would be my own fault in that it is just not big enough for my family (2 adults and 4 kids), I thought it would be when I got it but now realise that a weekly shop is a struggle to squeeze in. This is not the manufacturers fault of course but still a factor if you are thinking of buying it and have a large family.
Next would be the light that should come on when opening - it doesnt and its not the bulb.
The fridge also needs defrosting very regularly (at least once a week) as it has great blocks of ice and frost forming on the back which ofter freezes food that is near it and has to be thrown away. I have tried adjusting the thermostate but have had no luck - it either does not keep the food cold or it freezes it! My third and final problem is that it leaks water, the tray at the bottom is constantly full and often this ends up overflowing onto the kitchen floor.
Overall
I would not recommend this fridge, it is a budget fridge with no special features that only lasted a year. Considering it is around £200 I think it is worth paying a little extra. I will certainly be doing this is the near future (in fact I have my eye on one already - a nice silver coloured massive ice dispensing fridge/freezer, I look forward to writing my review on that one when I get it!!!!) The ice box froze into a complete block of ice within a few months.
May as well have bought a fridge without an ice box and had a bit of extra fridge space, who wants to defrost the ice box every few months?
Had I known I would have spent a little more on a better quality product.
Next time I buy I will be sure to check ... out the reviews first, thanks to sites like this people can save a lot of money and time that might have been wasted on buying a bad product.
Very disappointed with Swan, always thought they were a good brand until now, I will not be buying any more Swan products.
