Advantages: Easy of the eye, No Frost system, Water dispenser, Fast freeze and ice tray.

Disadvantages: Non as yet.

With all of the restoration work in my house this year the most recent casualty has been my fridge freezer. Bought only a couple of years ago I was quite happy with my slim line Servis fridge freezer. That is until the plumbers broke one of the legs and despite our best efforts the builder covered the back of it in plaster which caused it to leak. Thankfully the insurers agreed to pay for a new fridge freezer and I set about looking for one that was in the same price range.

I searched on-line and at a few stores before choosing. I decided that I did not want an all singing and dancing one and was still a little restricted by size. I decided that I wanted one that was at least A rated, was a little wider than my other one and was not expensive. We have bought so much this year I could not afford to add anything to the insurers allowance.

Finally I settled for a Beko fridge freezer through Dixon's on-line. I have had a few items from Dixon's on-line and have had no problems. Including delivery the price came in at £278.99. I ordered through a cash back site and so got an added bonus and quickly received an email confirming my purchase. Once the day of delivery is arranged you can call the day before to see which 4 hour slot your delivery will be in. This is much better than just sitting around from 8am until 6pm, when they finally deliver.

We did have a couple of problems but these were a bit silly.

1- I did not think that I had actually ordered the fridge freezer with the water dispenser. I think I had just got confused when hopping about between two Beko models and had ordered in error. However Dixons kindly refunded some money as the model they sent had gone down in price. Very nice, but there's more.

2-When the delivery men had taken the packaging off and put the fridge freezer in the kitchen there was a deep scratch some 3 inches long slap bang on the front. They said that they could take the fridge freezer back but we were so fed up of sending items back etc. They gave me a number to ring and Beko kindly sent us a £30 cheque as a part refund. Very nice again, but there is more. When the kitchen fitter arrived later that day he said 'That's not a scratch'. Now we had tried allsorts to remove the mark all to no avail. With some kitchen paper and a bit of magic voil'e the mark disappeared.

So my bargain fridge ended up costing about £200, before delivery costs, due to cash back and refunds.

So is the fridge freezer any good?, I hear you ask.

It is a lovely bright white colour outside. There is the Beko logo and a small sign saying A class. The freezer, which is at the bottom has three drawers which pull out. Above these there is a fast freeze drawer with a slim line ice bank at the top of this. It has a Nofrost system and the freezer is 4 star rated.

One reason I was not sure about a fridge with a water dispenser was the space that you would lose inside. However the fridge, which is at the top, is not a bad size. There are two salad crisper drawers in the bottom and two large glass shelves above. There is one more glass shelf at the top which is much narrower. I like this as it means my water jug and a large milk container will easily fit in. The door has two large shelves for cans or eggs etc. Also in the door, at either side of the water dispenser, there is space for cans or bottles.

The water dispenser is only designed to take water and not juices and the like. We have not used it yet but will no doubt do so in Summer, if there is one net year.

This Beko fridge freezer looks pretty good and is very quiet. Our other one would make hefty clunking noises occasionally but this one is quiet as a mouse. I would say watch out for the measurements. Our Beko fridge freezer was to be placed in a housing and it only just fitted. We had taken exact measurements and it seemed as if it would be fine. However there is a slight ledge at the front on the top which is just a little high and meant it was a tight squeeze. You can alter the legs a little but obviously you need your fridge to be stable.

Overall I am really pleased with my new fridge freezer. It does what I want, looks good and for only an average size piece of kit it has plenty of room in it. It is ample for just a couple, such as us, and will hopefully be economical to run. By the way we do have a small chest freezer in the garage also.

We have it as a left hand side opening but you can alter this to right handed.

Thanks for reading

This fridge freezer is not overly large outside and so even a small kitchen/utility area would be able to house it. The average sizes are:-
Height:182cm
Width:54.5cm
Depth:60.0cm
And its capacity is:-
Freezer Volume: 138 Litres
Fridge Volume: 160 Litres

Of course only time will tell if it is a real bargain!.

Summary: Would seem to be a good bargain.

What a palaver from Beko! Mind you they are trying their level best to maintain good standards, further illustrated by your own experience. Ive never used any of their fridge/freezers but I still have an 8 year old Beko 14" TV that refuses to die.
