Comet PLC A big let Down...poor customer service

Purchased a Beko Upright TZDA627FS Freezer in May 07 from Comet at Plymouth. When opening the top shelf unit the cover fell off due to a fault in the acrylic casting.

Took the shelf back to the shop whereby they refused to replace the shelf. They stated that the shelf was not a necessary part of an upright Freezer. Perhaps I should now have to purchase frozen food which defies gravity and sticks to the back of the freezer.The freezer can now be said to be a Health & safety Risk.!!!

I claimed that the freezer did not comply with the Sale Of Goods Act but unfortunately the assistant did not have a clue what I was talking about. I asked to see a Manager but was informed that he was not there at present.I then asked the name of the Manager and the Company Secretary, which seemed to frighten the assistant, and subsequently she refused to give me their names.

On returning home I telephoned the Customer Services Department at Comet Head Office where I was treated with the same abrupt rude manner as in the shop. I asked the same questions as in the shop. The person asked me to wait while she telephoned the shop to find out the managers name. After a long wait she told me that she would not give me his name and that she did not know the name of the Company Secretary. .The person concerned refused to take my name or telephone number or discuss the details

It appears that names of senior staff are a big secret and they prefer to be anonymous to all and sundry. Perhaps it is a policy so that they cannot be accountable for anything especially complying with Consumer and Contract Legislation. Oh I also forgot Health and Safety Legislation.

I therefore challenge any member of Comet PLC to contact me on this site to defend their position and explain why my Daughter (who has a disability) cannot use the freezer.

My solution will to be to use legislation alongside the promotion of poor practice via the internet, but ultimately I will make a promise to inform everyone that I meet that Comet PLC will not honour any warranty on new products.

PS Of course I will never use this company again as I do not trust them>
