Advantages: functional - just
Disadvantages: poor quality
We live in a village and have 2 children, so figured it was best to have a spare fridge and freezer in the garage full of food to reduce the number of car journeys to stock up (plus mum was buying!). Although there is a small village shop, the nearest supermarket is over 2 miles away. We found the Beko fridge and freezer in a local superstore, and decided they seemed the best priced offering the best space. What we failed to understand until too late was that this make was also offering the worst quality. The first time they delivered to us we were given 2 freezers instead of a fridge and a freezer. One was sent back. The next time, they did bring a fridge. I asked the delivery men to unwrap it for me. As they did so, the door fell off! The men joked “nobody told you this was a good make did they?”. I should have twigged then, but no. We did eventually receive our fridge - in one piece - which is the better of the two items. The freezer door doesn’t always close properly so the contents start to defrost, but the red light doesn’t come on even though the meat is going soft. The drawers are stiff to operate, made worse by the fact that the freezer is not frost free (big mistake there) so the frost builds up and affects how well the drawers will slide. The fridge and freezer don’t feel like they are properly made and I have no faith in them lasting any length of time, I think they will just about make it through the warranty period and then give up the ghost. I cannot recommend this make at all.

- 21/02/09 We bought our own Beko just over a year ago. Oh how I wish I had read the reviews I have seen here. The main gripe is that it drips water everywhere. It has four glass shelves and appears on the surface to be well designed. But no matter what shelf you use, what ever you place on it becomes saturated within a very short time. When you buy what should be a modern appliance and spend nearly £300 pounds on it, the last thing that should happen is a leaky water saturated fridge. Am I being too hard, no, and did I also mention the door does not shut properly and it keeps sliding across the floor. Will I buy another BEKO fridge, I don't think so. |

- 04/10/00 One of the problems with 'makes' is that you don't always know who really is the maker. A lot of stuff is badged for various large outlets, e.g. Currys, so you see names you don't know which may be from reputable makers, or not. We have a Matsui television that was made by the German firm, Grundig, and it is excellent, but because Matsui is a just an 'own brand' this isn't always the case. Our fridge is a Haier, which comes from a factory built in China by another German company, Liebherr, but it's not always easy to find these things out. I don't know if Beko is just a name or a maker, but it sounds like they're worth avoiding... |
