Advantages: Lots of fridge space and the door has plenty of great compartments.

Disadvantages: Fingers crossed, none yet

Yesterday, my Hotpoint fridge freezer packed up! It gave me no warning. It just decided it had had enough after 8 years of keeping my food nice and cold.

I can't complain, it certainly paid it's way but I thought it was a bit selfish of it not to warn me. I mean, why did it have to pack up overnight? Why couldn't it have waited until morning?

It was a good job it was not packed with food and needless to say we enjoyed our burgers, chicken nuggets and garlic bread that we had for tea that day!

We visited a few electrical stores, Currys, Comet and Tempo.
I didn't like the look of the ones in Comet and Currys only had one model in our price range.
When we arrived at Tempo we were met with a large variety to choose from, ranging in price.
It had to be a fridge freezer of a certain height as it had to slide neatly under the wall cupboards.
The interior door design was important too. I like to have plenty of little crooks and crannies to store things like eggs, butter, bottles and other smaller items.

We contemplated one that had the fridge at the top and the freezer section at the bottom but the fridge lost size going for that design.

We eventually decided on the Beko Glacier, an 8.5 cu.ft fridge freezer.

It's white and has ample fridge space. It contains the usual bottom crisper tray and flip up bottle shelf. The door space has a green pattern to it and gives plenty of room for eggs, butter, cheese and other smaller items.
The door bottle shelf contains a plastic 'gripper' so that bottles cannot fall over, which is a good idea.

It is an energy efficient class B fridge freezer and consumes 354 Kwh/year, for those interested in energy efficiency.
The frozen food compartment has a 4 star rating and will keep the food cold for 13.5 hours should there be a power failure.

I am pleased with my new kitchen companion and I hope we have a long and happy
relationship together.

v. useful opinion.

It will be interesting to see how the BEKO compares to the HOTPOINT. I have seen q. a lot of BEKO products in store, I have never had to buy a fridge freezer as yet..but surely some day my existing (already fitted in kitchen) one may pack up, so I'll be looking for tips!!
