Advantages: Cheap, Good emmissions rating, Good looking

Disadvantages: Frosts quickly, Call out and repair charges, Customer Care

We bought our Beko Glacier fridge freezer three and a half years ago. It's been good but there are some problems with it:

It fills up with water at the bottom of the fridge, which is rather unpleasant and rots and fruit veg in the bottom baskets.

The fridge door doesn't close very well - one really has to ensure that it is shut properlly - just swinging it closed doesn't always work, and often I will come down to find the poor thing churning away trying to keep cool when the door hasn't closed properly.

The Freezer is difficult to defrost and fills up with frost quickly. I can't remove the internal selves, as they have cooling elements down them, which means they don't come out, and it is very difficult to remove the built up frost.

The Glacier has just broken down after only three and a half years - I expect a fridge freezer to last a bit longer! No problem, my husband has called out the repair men - however, they don't work weekends and we both work during the day, meaning that one of us will have to take a day's annual leave to let the man in - and £35 call out charge and for the first 15 minute's work and then £20 for every 15 minutes spent working on it thereafter. Ouch! Beko, no wonder your appliances are so cheap - they breakdown and you make all your money on repairing them!

One of my husband's colleagues also had this problem - he turned it off to defrost it and then it wouldn't turn back on again - on contacting Beko he was told that "turning the fridge/freezer off causes the pump to stop working". !!!!! - how does one defrost it then?

On the plus side - it is cheap and good looking. However, it's short on extras. It does have quite a bit of space in it, although we'd struggle to find room in the freezer if we were a family. We bought it when we first married, and it was the only thing that we could afford. Being slightly more afflue
nt now, I think I'd check out some more reviews and go for a more expensive more reliable model next time.
