Beko UL584AP
by milmol7 Why Beko? ~~~~~~~ When I moved to my new house 18 months ago, there was no space in the kitchen for my fridge-freezer, so I had to look at purchasing two separate undercounter style appliances. There was a good local independent retailer in the nearest town who would deliver & install precisely when I wanted and would do me ... a deal when I bought the fridge & freezer together ... otherwise, I doubt that Beko would have been a brand I would have looked out for. The owner told me that they performed really well and were very efficient and the deal he was offering was good. For my part, (and to my shame on such a purchase) the wine rack was swinging it!! Installation ~~~~~~~~ The fridge comes with a moulded plug, something you need to bear in mind if your plug sockets are above the worktop level (mine were) - I think this is standard these days, though. The door is reversible, so the owner of the shop who was delivering asked me which way I wanted it opening, it didn't need reversing but he showed me how to change it if I altered the kitchen layout any time. I haven't done so, but it is a straightforward thing to do (or appeared to be!). Underneath the fridge at the front, the two feet are adjustable to different heights of about 2 inches I would say, which you simply turn to adjust the heights to get the fridge level and stable. Shelves ~~~~~~ This fridge comes with four internal glass shelves, and a wire wine rack. Three of the shelves are full depth, and one is half depth. All the shelves can be moved, but the bottom one acts as a lid to the salad crisper compartment, so that stays at the bottom for me. There are 5 rails at various heights for you to arrange the shelves and wine rack to your preferrend layout. The wine rack holds 4 bottles but it does obviously restrict the capacity of what else you can fit in there, so it can be easily removed if you would prefer the open space. Salad Crisper ~~~~~~~~~~ The salad crisper compartment fits into the bottom and is surprisingly roomy, about 70x20x20cm with an integral finger grip area to make it easy to pull out. The compartment is clear plastic, moulded to the shape of the fridge to give it maximum capacity. As this is the area behind which the mechanics of the fridge are situated, it makes the compartment a bit of an irregular shape, which in turn makes it a bit tricky to keep clean, with some awkward corners. Door ~~~~ Storage areas in the door comprise 3 plastic shelves. The bottom comfortably holds a large 4 pint milk jug, juice carton and a pop or wine bottle with room to spare. It's a generous size with a reasurring approx 10cm high guard around the bottom section of the bottles to ensure nothing falls or topples out. Higher up are two other shelves, and again these can be adjusted to your preferred height. The fridge door came with a plastic egg rack, I didn't use this as the shelves in the door are big enough to hold an egg box if necessary. The door itself is plain white, (it's also available in silver) with two moulded handles in the top to accommodate whichever way you want it to open. The word "BEKO" is in silver towards the top of the door, and not intrusive. The door opens easily and closes snugly with a very secure seal. Cleaning ~~~~~~ Every component of the fridge is very easy to keep clean with a wipe and spray. As I mentioned, the salad crisper can be a bit tricky to get all bits out of but it's a minor point, and it's the worthwhile price paid for making the most of every bit of space allowed in the base area of the fridge. It's very easy to take the crisper fully out to give it a wash, though, which I like to do from time to time. Technical Bits ~~~~~~~~~~ The capacity of the fridge is 4.8 cu. ft. (gross). Energy rating is A+, stating it uses 116kWh/year, and it has Auto defrost. Operating noise level is 42dB - I have no idea what sort of scale that is, so I will just say that to me, it's very quiet! Summary ~~~~~~~ A great fridge, a brand I'd not have considered before this purchase but have no hesitation in recommending. I haven't had any issues with the fridge at all, it keeps everything cold and fresh (it has something called "cold wall technology"!), the door has always shut tight and it's easy to keep clean. That's all I need from a fridge really! Read the complete review |

Beko BC502
by bringingsexyback WHAT IS IT? A fridge freezer made by Beko. It has got a larger fridge than freezer and that was what I was looking for when I researched my purchase because I do not buy a lot of frozen food. WHY I BOUGHT THIS MODEL I needed to replace my fridge freezer because it had started to make a loud buzzing ... noise that disturbed everyone in the house at night, it also was not keeping my food fresh for as long as it should. I did not have any brand on my mind and chose this Beko appliance because it has got a 155 litre capacity in the fridge and 70 litres in the freezer, that suits my family unit because my fridge is usually filled with fresh foods and vegetables but I use my freezer for home cooked then frozen meals like stew and chilli. I am energy conscious when I choose home appliances so the A+ energy rating also helped me to decide. WHAT I THINK I am very happy with my new fridge freezer and think it fits in with what I need from this large appliance. The shelves in the fridge can be moved and this is easy to do so I often move them if I have bulky things to store like large cakes, at Christmas I took the bottom shelf off altogether so that I could fit my turkey in while it defrosted. I like that the salad drawers have got a glass shelf covering them because that helps to keep my vegetables crisp and fresh and it also lets me put plates of food on this glass shelf because it is more solid that the other wire shelves. The salad drawers are deep and I can keep quite a lot in them, they are cut out a bit at the backs though so I cannot fit long pieces of celery or cucumbers in them without disturbing the loose glass shelf. The inside of the door has got a wide shelf for my milk and the other shelves are narrower so I use them for jars and yogurts. The door moves smoothly so they do not rattle around when I open and close the fridge. It comes with a removable wine rack but when you put 4 bottles of wine in it it takes up a lot of room so I took mine out and keep my wine in a wine cooler instead of the fridge. The freezer has got 3 drawers and a shelf at the top with a drop down front. The drawers are very good because they are dead square so I can stack my containers of meals when I have finished cooking, it holds enough containers and bags of peas, frozen potato products to feed my family of five for a week if I am very busy with no time to cook in the evening. I use the top shelf for containers of pureed foods for my baby daughter that I batch cook every second Sunday. It is a very quiet fridge freezer and does not even make a humming noise when it is running. The freezer is frost free and does not damage food that is kept in there for quite a long time, it also stays clean and it is not very often that I have to wipe it only usually when my husband spills peas in it like he always does. When we had a powercut last week I made sure nobody opened the door and left it for an hour for the coldness to come back after the power had been restored, I was happy that none of my food had defrosted and think the freezer must be very well insulated. The food in the fridge did not seem to be so fresh though and I had to throw some dairy products and cooked meat away. I like that you can change what way the door opens and we did this because the way the door was hinged when we bought it would have been awkward in our L shaped kitchen. My husband did this and it looked easy but I had to help him hold the door while he clipped the hinge back in on the other side so I do not think it would be so easy to do alone. ANYTHING ELSE We paid £350 for our Beko BC502 and I think that is very good value for a fridge freezer that costs less than £3 a month to run even when it is full up. 5 Dooyoo Stars. Beko CA7015FF
by jimcal I purchased mine 3 years ago, and as it was from a catalogue I cant remember exactly how much it was, but it seemed a good price at the time. My grandchildren always wanted an American Fridge, with ice cubes and cold water in the door on the front, and as I couldnt get that one, I decided on this. Its a very spacious fridge ... with ajustable shelves (which I thought were a little heavy) which are are made of glass with plastic trimming. Mine has a wine rack in also, which can be placed at the top or the bottom of the fridge. The plastic compartments on the fridge door where the milk is stored, somehow always tended to come off, and eventually snapped near the back, but I was able to alter that a little as it had two slots for adjustments. The door itself has a water container at the back for cold water to be dispensed from the front, on the push of the lever which has a child lock on to avoid unneccesary spills, however, the children would tend to keep pushing it, as the water didnt come out when it was locked, and this lever can easily snap. The drawers at the bottom of the fridge, I found would somehow always get liquid/fluids at the bottom back. This could tend to cause a smell if unnoticed. The dial in the fridge for coolness I didnt think was much good either, as it didnt always seem to keep the food as cold as it should, and sometimes it could be knocked and altered when pulling food out if it is stored high. It also has a little plunger hole at the back which I found to get clogged sadly. The freezer part was rather better, with its plastic drawers, where we can see what is in the drawers before opening, it was frost free and had a small fan at the back of the ice cube department, but it was always necessary to check the children had not pushed the lolly ices to far back, as this can jam the quick freeze fan. The lolly ice compartment door was also easily broken. I was a little disappointed in this product as I came home one day to an awful smell in the kitchen, it was a gas like smell, and it seemed to be coming from the fridge/freezer. The fridge and freezer had stopped working too. I rang Beko who were going to charge me to send an engineer to fix it but not long after that I heard from newspapers and a letter in the post from Beko that there had been a small problem with certain product numbers, mine was one of them. Beko sent out an engineer, and he had to change something like a gas canister at the back and a pipe, then it seemed to be working ok after that. The fridge/freezer itself can be easily moved but you need to make sure that you adjust the legs on it correctly as the door will tend to close itself. A little disappointed in this product Read the complete review |
