Advantages: No emptying of fridge to find what you are looking for.

Disadvantages: Haven't found any.

I decided it was time to replace my fridge. Although it still worked well enough, the door handle had been glued on more times than I cared to remember and my husband refused to carry out any more repairs. Off to the shops we went to see how models had changed in the many years since we last purchased.

Of all the models and makes we looked at, the one that stood out for me was the Bosch Logixx Easy Access. Why did it stand out from all the other usual refrigerators? Simple, it had drawers instead of shelves! Something that was so simple that I wondered why I hadn't seen it before. We are used to drawers in freezers so why not in fridges? It made perfect sense. Both my husband and I are bothered with bad backs and bending down can be a pain (literally). How many times have you had to empty a shelf in the fridge to see what is at the back? Well, that is a thing of the past since purchasing my Bosch Logixx Easy Access fridge.

The other main difference with this fridge is, it has no door storage, except for perhaps a chocolate bar. I thought this might cause a problem with bottle storage but I needn't have worried. There are 4 drawers and half of the bottom drawer is specially designed for tall bottles/containers. If you prefer, you can store them on their sides in either of the top drawers which have neck rests in which to place them. You may think there would be less storage with drawers but I find it to be the complete opposite.

Another innovative feature of this fridge is, you can choose the inside temperature. I had only ever owned fridges that had an on/off button but the Bosch Logixx lets you choose from 4 different settings. There is also a Super button on the front and when you use this button a light is displayed to let you know that super cooling is in progress. Basically, it cools the fridge faster for approximately 8 hours before reverting to its normal setting. This is useful if you have a large amount of fresh food or drinks that you wish to cool down quickly. There is even a temperature slide within the fridge which allows you to have different temperatures within the fridge. It is located behind the drinks drawer so that you can chill your drinks to a cooler temperature than the rest of the fridge contents.

The door hinges are interchangeable so that you can have the door opening to the left or the right, basically whichever is best for your kitchen layout.

The price of the Bosch Logixx Easy Access is slightly more than normal fridges but is well worth the money. The average price in the shops was approximately £250. However, I found it was cheaper to order it online, even when having to pay a delivery charge, and saved about £50. It's a purchase I would certainly recommend.

An excellent review here although this model does have a rating of A for energy consumption which is perhaps another justiable factor given its high cost.

I dont know if I'd like this appliance though with all those storage boxes as opposed to shelves. I use storage boxes anyway for some things and love adjustable shelving as well as the inner door cubbys which are a must for me and my Yogurts! Plus with boxes wouldn't you have increased washing down to do?
