This freezer has been the bane of my life for years. I first bought this model second hand and almost new - it didn't take me too long too figure out why its' previous owner had been so happy to let it go for a song....... The drawers drop down onto eachother creating a situation where it's impossible to get *any* of them out without sorting them out one by one until you get down to the one you want....... I had hotpoint engineer after hotpoint engineer out to try and sort it (I'd bought a service contract)and after goodness knows how many of them had rubbed their foreheads and sighed over it while drinking my tea, one of them finally offered to replace it with a new one at a cost of only £100 (I'd had it about 3 years by this time) I agreed with alacrity and despite a letter telling me that Hotpoint had no stock of this freezer, a new one arrived out of the blue. So far so good....... After Christmas I was planning a party, I'd bought loads of special food and frozen it. It was as full as it was possible to be.....then one particularly exhausting Saturday evening I went to get something out to cook for the kids and found that the *entire* contents had defrosted thoroughly.I wanted to sit in the corner and cry! Hotpoint said they'd send someone out between 12pm and 5pm the following Saturday. *8.30 am* the Hotpoint engineer arrived! He told me there was nothing wrong with the freezer (yeah, right, it just lost £200 of food) but I insisted it be replace as it was brand new. Yet again I had a letter from Hotpoint saying that they had none in stock. 7 months later and I'm *still* waiting....... And to cap it all.........you guessed it.......... the drawers are dropping again. I wonder if I can get them to give me my £100 back and just *take* the thing?!
