Advantages: User friendly, quite quiet and nice looking (for a fridge)

Disadvantages: none apart from maybe the price

Like neighbours, everybody needs a good fridge freezer these days to keep food fresh for as long as possible, but choosing the right fridge freezer is a lot harder than anyone ever thought possible.
There are just so many different types on the market, all offering something that little bit special just to entice you towards them.
There are small fridge/freezers, for those with small kitchens, or maybe student types, then there are massive American style fridge freezer for...well, for Americans and there 'massive' views on life.
And then there are the standard size fridge freezers which most Brits are proud to have in there homes, although there are still many of these types on sale to choose from.

Anyway, in my home I have a small single fridge with a famous branded lager printed on the side, this fridge of course is for my drinks, (none alcoholic honestly).
Then I have my everyday fridge freezer to keep all my everyday essentials in, like milk, margarine, salad, ice and the likes, and it is this fridge freezer that I am going to tell you about today.

It is a free standing Hotpoint FFA fridge freezer with Frost free system and something called Microban TM

** OTHER TECHNICAL BITS...

* Overall height of 1610 mm ( fridge door height being 810, freezer door height being 790),
* Full measurement s being 1610 by 610 by 610.
* 2 doors which can open either left or right depending on fittings (supplied)
* 255 litre capacity in total. The fridge on top being 160 litre whilst the freezer on the bottom being 95 litre.
* Average annual consumption being approx. 310 Kwh
* With Microban TM

** Inside the fridge compartment...

* Four safety glass shelves, one of which can be split in half
(These shelves can be placed in several positions inside the fridge)
* Two deep clear plastic trays at the base.
* Two long door shelves
* Two short door shelves
* A light which activates when door is opened.
* Drainage hole for excess vapour

** Inside the freezer compartment...

* Two deep draws
* One 'not so deep' draw

** OTHER BITS TO NOTE...

On the front of the unit at the top there are two settings switches, one for the fridge, one for the freezer, which can be turned with a thin object, such as a coin. Then there is a fast freeze button for, well, a fast freeze of course.
There are also two little lights on either side of the switches, one is green to show the unit is plugged in, whilst the other turns red if the freezer temperature becomes to high.
And, apparently, it has an eco-cost on average of less than £40.00 per year, (based on electricity average rates), with a carbon footprint of around 167 kg CO2 per annum. (very technical that wasn't it? And thanks to 'Unbeatable' for that little 'tit-bit)

** IN CONCLUSION...

This freestanding fridge freezer is, like many others, a nice looking unit which will sit quite quietly in any kitchen.
It is a good size, the height being just over five foot thus still allowing access on the top for extra storage in smaller kitchens.
The inside is pretty spacious and seems to be well designed for all food stuff, containing four 'safety glass' shelves, with one shelf being capable of being spit in half to allow for larger bottle or the like to stand upright.
The two trays in the bottom of the unit being of a good depth, easily able to hold quite a bit of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and the like.
The shelving on the lower part of the door is fantastic, being wide enough to hold several larger cartons of milk, with the other smaller shelves being movable and quite capable of holding several jars and the like, then there's the top shelf attached to the door which has a transparent flip lid.
Even when the door shelves are filled with your bottles of wine, sorry I mean milk, the door still seem to open and close with minimal effort, almost gliding into place as the door seal meets the main unit.
And the good sized light, which is situated on the inside top of the fridge, gives off plenty of light when the door opened, shutting off when the door closes.

Adjusting the setting of the fridge and freezer is childs play, it is a simple matter of turning the little small knobs which are situated just above the fridge door, both being identified by a small arrow pointing to a little image of the top or bottom of a fridge freezer, both having the numbers 1 to 5 surrounding them, (5 being the coldest setting).
As for the Freezer high temperature light, well this has come in handy a few times for me after one of my kids has helped themselves to an ice lolly, leaving the door slightly as usual, allowing the cold out and the heat in without anyone noticing. But after a little while the bright red light comes on and stands out like a wings on a trout, making you realise that your frozen food is in danger of ruining.
The fast freeze button is another good idea, allowing you to freeze larger amounts of 'fresh' food without spoiling the taste when it is thawed out, by simply pressing a tiny button, (well, it's not even a button, it's more a touch pad thing).

Anyway, I have been using this Hotpoint for quite some time now and can honestly say that it is one of the best fridge freezers I have ever owned. With the ample shelves in the fridge and the good sized draws in the freezer it holds everything I need it to and the noise level is very low indeed, the odd bit of humming being the exception.
As for the dreaded task which is defrosting a freezer, well, I have never yet had to do it as yet so I can safely say that the 'frost free' statement is most defiantly correct.

In all, another brilliant product from the boffins at Hotpoint and a must for those that just want a good reliable fridge freezer which will stand quietly in their kitchens, like a massive mannequin looking over your kitchen utensils.
The prices for this white Hotpoint fridge freezer range quite drastically but on average you can get one for around the £330 mark.
But as I always say, do shop around as there may be bargains out there for you do grab.

** NOTE...
Like all fridge freezers, it can make a few noises at times, although as it is in a kitchen that shouldn't really matter, but if you tend to either sleep in the kitchen or have this fridge in your bedroom then the noise may keep you awake.

Summary: Keeps your cucumbers as cool as... plus a lot more

Spot on review here and another great review for the HA section! Please write more!

We saw this Hotpoint in JL and it was one of the ones I considered as it has the 4 shelves I originally wanted.
