Me and my boyfriend have just moved into our first flat so we were looking for a cheap/average priced fridge but with plenty of room so this ticked all of the boxes for us.
We bought it a few weeks ago from amazon and it was simple to set up we just plugged it in the settings had already been sorted for us then we had to wait 24 hours with it on before we could put anything in it which was fine.
I was set on getting this fridge as hotpoint is a well known quality brand name and my last washing machine was hot point and the quality was amazing so I knew this was the one to get. The fridge capacity is 150 litres which is very handy for us since we buy lots of squash, milk and fizzy drinks. Also the freezer capacity is 78 litres which is ideal for us as we buy lots of ice cream, pizza and other things.
- There's so much room- me and my boyfriend have the appetite of a family (really) so we tend to buy alot of meat, milk, fruit and veg and vegetables mostly so we needed a big fridge to store all of these.
- The fridge doesn't take up to much room as its an all in one fridge/freezer which saves room.
- You get 12 months parts and labour guarantee and 5 years parts guarantee
- It is very heavy (56kg) and hard to maneuver as it had to come up 2 sets of stairs to get to our flat which was awkward as it could've easily fell.
well in my home theres only two of us, so when buying a new fridge freezer i was thinking i didn't want anything bulky or anything tiny.
the price of this product along with great reviews led me to gig it a go. so happy i chose now as it is perfect, fits just right and does everything i need.
i love the fact they offer you a variety of colours and sizes when purchasing as no matter what your home is like, it will end up just as you like.
it has several different settings and is very well lit inside. food stays lovely and fresh for long periods in here.
i chose on of the medium sizes (can't remember exact measurements) and kept the colour plain white as this goes with anything and doesn't look odd in my kitchen.
not too expensive either and i usually like to stick to recognised brands for quality
We moved into our new home last year and in this home was a built in fridge freezer with cupboard doors over the front to hide the fact that it exists. We didn't choose this one but it looked similar to our old one which is now living as a spare in the garage, this Christmas has been the best for food space with three freezers and two fridges. I know Hotpoint to be a trustworthy brand who have been making products since 1911 including washing machines and driers. Hotpoint are now owned by Indesit an are now making less products within the UK with Indesit being an Italian brand.
Had the fridge freezer been on show the front would be white and it has a white inside with three glass shelves, under the bottom shelve are two plastic drawers and in the drawer three shelves. We also have an extra six egg holder and a little box for extras.
The height is 174cm with a depth of 58cm, 150 litre fridge capacity and 78 litre freezer capacity. The hinge is reversible and we currently have it on the right hand side due to the positioning of the utility room door next to it.
In the main compartment of the fridge I put my sauces and butters on the top shelf as it is quite high to reach so I can't put anything up there that I use a lot, I'm 5'4" but I suppose if you are taller it would be much easier. I use the middle shelf for bread and pudding and the bottom for my meats. There is a box in there with a lid which I like to store my chocolates in as I tend to be a bit addicted and have far too much. There are two drawers which I find handy for a storage for salads and also cheeses.
The door has a cover over the top shelf which I have my six egg holder in to make sure they don't fall out and make a mess, we also use this to store my partners inhalers. The middle shelf is tall enough for mayonnaises, BBQ and tomato sauce plus jars of jellies and chutneys. The bottom shelf has the largest space for bottles of milk or wines.
I do like the size of the fridge and it is supposed to be antibacterial and anti frost however if you put your food too close to the back it freezes and sticks to the back which can be annoying. There is always plenty of room and I generally space my food out so that it doesn't look empty.
The freezer has a quick frost top section with a pull down front and I usually put my meat in here straight from the supermarket to ensure it is frozen promptly. It usually freezes within about 45minutes which I find very effective.
The next two drawers are a good size for about 6 birds eye size boxes and soup to go in, I suppose it depends on what you buy really. Plus the bottom basket I usually use for bags of chips and rice or ice cream and puddings.
My criticism of the freezer is that it decided to randomly defrost itself when we had gone away for a few days so I was not impressed to come back to a pool of water and defrosted food. I'm not sure how to stop this from happening and the freezer cost me a lot of money doing this so I was less than impressed as you can imagine.
So overall I do not have too many complaints, it generally does me well and has plenty of space and is easy to clean. However, be aware of food freezing in the fridge and the random defrosting of the freezer.
Once the contracts were signed and the house was ours my chap and I soon realised there were some essential items we needed for our love nest. One of the most important of these was a fridge freezer. We brought this one from our local currys. Family reccomended hotpoint and I must admit ita a brand that has yet to let us down.
The fridge was delivered about 3 days after purchase and the delivery men also took the old fridge that the previous owner had left behind. They didnt charge extra for this, if I remember rightly I believe that actually knocked some money off the cost of our new fridge for the trade in.
I remember our first food shop to asda. We brought what felt like loads of food and yet barely filled one section of the fridge. Nowdays its a weekly mission to cram everything in. Our next fridge we plan to buy a big american style one, so watch this space for another review.
Anyway this fridge freezer is very basic. Brilliant white in colour, heavy and quite slim. The freezer has four drawers all the same size except the bottom one which is a tad smaller. I store all my ice cream and frozen fruit in the bottom as the shape is just right for an icecream tub.
The fridge has three shelves and two salad trays. Im a little OCD with my fridge. I like my veggies in one drawer and salad in the other, raw meats on bottom shelf with saucea and pickles, cooked meats second shelf and cheeses top. On a shopping day its ram and shut the door quick but it never stays full for long. In the door there are two little shelves where I store my butter, garlic cloves and creamy cheeses. Then under the shelves is an area to store milk and fruite juices.
The fridge holds a surprisingly large amount of food, it feels small to me now as my family has grown and I try to do more home cooking. However as a first time buyers fridge I dont think you can fault it. Its reliable, easy to clean and maintain and holds at least two boxes worth of cider.
My only criticism is that the cover that used to come down over the butter and garlic shelf is a tad flimsy and I ended up leaving it on top of the shelf as it kept falling off. This doesnt effect the use of the shelf as everything remains in place so for me its seems like a pointless extra that isnt really needed.
When we were shopping around for a fridge freezer we had an idea of what we were looking for. We wanted it to be white, for it to have vegetable draws and a big freezer space and this hotpoint fridge freezer fit all the boxes!!
The hotpoint refrigerator is just the perfect size for us as a family of 3. We tend to buy alot of milk (we have a toddler) and we store 2 big bottles in the inside door of the fridge (bear in mind milk is very heavy) and we havent had any problems with the door, so this shows its very strong!!
I love that there was a little 6 egg holder in there too so i can store my eggs without taking up too much space with big bulky egg boxes!
The 2 vegetable draws are a fantastic size for storage - we tend to use one side for fruit and vegetables and the other as a 'junk' draw haha!
The fridge seems to regulate its temperature very well with a freeze and cool technique at the back.
The freezer is just what we needed as we tend to buy alot of frozen food to keep in.
I find the freezer doesnt 'frost' over like alot of other freezers tend to do which is a big plus as it means we don't have big chunks of 'snow' falling off the freezer all the time.
Overall this fridge freezer is a fantastic size and does exactly what you need it to so don't hesitate to buy it!!
