Advantages: Deep door, well thought out design, easy access fridge drawers, looks nice
Disadvantages: No ice tray, a bit noisy
Having had my previous fridge freezer for about 10 years and having married and had 2 children since I bought it meant I was overdue a change. I needed a big fridge, and an average size freezer with easy access. I also wanted something that was energy efficient and looked nice as well as representing good value for money. This product really has ticked the boxes for me and I am overjoyed with my purchase.
The fridge is huge. The extra deep doors mean there is masses of room for the large bottles we tend to buy these days - I currently have two 2litre bottles of fizzy and three 4pt bottles of milk and this fills the door shelf without a squash. There are two further balconies on the door meaning we can store all our jars of pickles etc without using any of the actual fridge space and we can easily see what we have. There is also a lidded shelf in the door for eggs etc. In the main part of the fridge there are 4 adjustable shelves made of wipe clean glass with a metal bottle holder which can be placed under any of the shelves which will accomodate up to 5 bottles of wine. At the bottom there are 2 salad crisper drawers.
The freezer containes 3 drawers and space in the door to store pizzas. I have seen in other models with deep doors that the top freezer drawer can be difficult to access without opening the fridge door. Hotpoint have overcome this by using a drawer with a swivel down front to allow access to items in this drawer. Brilliant. I will however miss my previous freezers separate ice shelf/drawer, and it is as noisy as my old one, I might have expected something so much newer to be quieter.
It is frost free so no defrosting, sommething I am not sorry to see the back of. There are 2 extra options called super cool and super freeze which boost the cooling power when you have just been shopping and filled up.
As far as looks go it is lovely. It has a bow fronted slick design. I preferred the white option but a different model is silver.
It has an A energy rating, I would have preferred A+ myself but I shan't lose sleep over it. We also were origially sent a freezer drawer which didn't open but a quick e-mail to Hotpoint has sorted that out (in a very quick and polite way I must say) and the correct drawer was dispached.
It also not as expensive as some of its equivalent models. We picked it up for less than £450 with next day Saturday delivery.
Overall this is a great family fridge freezer. Not the biggest freezer but large and well thought out fridge, very good value for money.
Summary: Highly recommended, versatile. Looks good too
