Advantages: Great looking fridge, Loads of space, Easy to set temperature
Disadvantages: Delivery service is awful
If you've read some of my other opinions, you would already know that lately we have been in the process of redecorating and kitting out our kitchen. Although a new fridge is quite an expense, a new one had to be bought, as previously I'd only had a small 'one person' size fridge (a hangover from my single living in a flat days), which after many years of faithful service was not only now too small, but also had gone a bit mad and started freezing everything! We decided to buy a larder fridge, as I already have a chest freezer, so we didn't need extra freezer space, plus we thought the lack of fridge space problem would not reoccur if we bought a big fridge! Buying the fridge was easy, but getting it delivered was an absolute nightmare! In between my ordering the fridge and it being delivered, Hotpoint very slightly changed the design, meaning that they gave the new fridge a new product code, so my first order was cancelled. I was only told this a couple of weeks after they had cancelled it, and told to reorder under the new product number. This, however, was only the beginning of the problems! A second delivery date was sent, but no fridge arrived. I phoned up to be told the fridge was out of stock, and that a new delivery date would be set. Delivery date 3 was set, and went by with no delivery yet again. This time I was told that a mistake had been made with the paperwork, and that my fridge had been put down as to be collected by me. Very unhappy, I reluctantly agreed to delivery date 4 being set, and (Hooray!) this time the fridge arrived! The fridge itself is fantastic (once you get it!) We went for the silver colour option, which I am very pleased with. It looks great and is easy to wipe down. Inside the fridge there is loads of space, with a salad crisper box, and 5 glass shelves, which can be moved into a variety of positions to allow you to set up the shelves to the height you require. The glass sh
elves are also very easy to clean. Inside the door there is an egg storage compartment with enough room for 6 eggs if you put them all in the holes, but with a bit of cunning stacking you can get 8 or 9 in there! There is also another covered compartment for cheese, 4 small 'boxes' and one large one, although the smaller boxes easily take a 4 pint milk carton. The large one takes 4 2l size bottles of pop easily, great at this time of year! There is an easy to use dial to set the temperature of the fridge, on which between 3 and 4 is about right for us, but it depends on the temperature of the room where you have the fridge, amongst other things. Loads of leaflets come with the fridge, including one with a bit about where in the fridge different types of food should be kept (different shelves are different temperatures), and the guarantee (12 months), as well as a helpline for if anything goes wrong, although I haven't used this yet (and if its as good as Hotpoint delivery service, I hope I never have to!) Although I am very pleased with this product, I was not at all impressed with Hotpoint's delivery service, but if you can put up with a bit of hassle on the delivery front, it is a good fridge!
