Have you ever realised you have taken something for granted and really missed it when it was gone? Well I know this very well when my fide decided to go up the creek to white goods heaven and I had to live a week without one.
Never fear, the Hotpoint RSA21 is here!
As I said I never really appretiated my fridge and so I took great note when I had this one installed and with a Hotpoint you cant go wrong.
I have always been fans of Hotpoint machines and this is no exception. The RSA21 under the counter fridge has everything you need from a food chilling appliance with three door pockets, one perfect for a bottle of milk and even room to chill your table sauces or hold bottles of water, a shallow pocket above this and finally a pocket at the top with an attached lid which I find perfect for my eggs.
Inside the unit itself you can find the usual suspects, a vegetable draw at the bottom which holds plenty, a section above that and a movable shelf above this which is handy.
At the very top there is also a freezer box. Although this is niether big enough or cold enough for the christman turkey or many other frozen meals, it is perfect for frozen desserts etc which frees up your freezer a little.
I also decided on this Hotpoint for its rated A efficiency which ultimately means cheaper for me and better for the environment.
You can buy the Hotpoint RSA21 online for around £161.00 or on the high street at shops like Curry's for around the same price.
In all a good fridge from a name I trust.
I recently moved into a new flat, and it came with a fully fitted kitchen with white goods. One of these was the refridgerator, which is a Hotpoint RSA21.
The Hotpoint RSA21 is a compact fridge, has a 100 litre volume and is efficeny rating A. I have found this fridge to be absolutley brilliant and it is something I never really thought about before as I just assumed all fridges were the same, but now I know different.
The RSA21 has a fair few features, the first being a temperature control. There is a few settings for how cold you need your fridge to be, and this control can be turned using a coin, so that you don't accidently change the temperature in the fridge. The door shelves are removable and there is an egg tray and also a lidded shelf. Inside the door is a space for a two litre drinks bottle and also space for smaller bottles.
Inside the fridge itself is the usual shelves, which are removable and height adjustable, so you can change the height for any foods which take up more room. At the bottom of the fridge is a fruit and vegetable drawer, which has a surprising amount of room in it and at the top there is a small freezer box, which I find has enough room for a small ice tray and a couple of bags of frozen food. There is also a small drain in the fridge for any defrost water, something I have never noticed in a fridge before.
Originally I thought that the fridge looked like it was too small too hold much food, but I have since found that there is plenty of space and I can easily store a good lot of food in there. The door opens nice and easily, yet is sealed and secure when closed. The little shelves in the door are great for storing smaller items, eggs and the bottle shelf is very handy. This leaves me with more space in the main compartments for bigger food items, and also makes it easier to find things like the cheese or butter when I have a very full fridge.
The temperature of the fridge keeps everything nice and cool, but not too cold. The milk is usually what I use to check how well the temperature is working, and so far so good. The freezer box is brilliant too, as I always seem to have just a little bit too much food for the freezer, so I can store some things in there with no problem.
After having a look around at the prices, this fridge costs around £160.99 and I think this is a bargain price for a great fridge. If you are looking to buy a stand alone fridge, I totally recommend that you buy the Hotpoint RSA 21, as it does exactly what is needed, and really is a brilliant little fridge. 5 out of 5 Dooyoo stars from me.
This item has gone up considerably in price than when I brought it from Dixons for £121 in Dec 08 (£140 with delivery).
It was brought on the strength of a very positive Which review and also because it was inexpensive and its feature set seemed well suited to my needs. In use I have found it to be reliable, quiet in operation and energy efficient (measured using a plug in energy meter). As a single person both the fridge and freezer have sufficient capacity to suit my needs though I think anyone with a family would find it lacking in this regard.
The fridge seems to cool items quickly and because it auto-defrosts you have no ice buildup to deal with. Cleaning therefore is very simple compared to the chore it was with my old fridge and because its not very heavy its easy enough to pull out for those once in a while cleanups behind the fridge!
